I don't remember having this problem in the prior version, but now villagers glitch into blocks & die.
I've built a breeder & tranport system to move them so I can keep them for trading. My breeder works fine, but the transport - they die. I have a 1 block wide x 2-3 block high tunnel & am moving them with water. They can make turns & move - so it's no certain spot that they are glitching. Also, the baby villagers make the adults glitch into blocks & die if they get close to them. They even die in glass. You know they jump in water, this is where they get on the bottom block in a wall & get stuck. I can't even make them get out.
Does anyone have a solution to this? I've used wooden planks, stone bricks & glass. Result is the same. Hostile mobs don't do this - they move along fine in water channels.

I have no solution to this, just put extra doors in the sides of the houses in your village, so that the villagers will breed to replacr any villagers that die. 4j is fixing this in tu16.
And moderators might move or lock this post, becuase what you reported was a bug, and this is the discussion section. They'll tell you to report it to the bug list section
Yea, I figured it was a bug & had been reported. I was hoping someone had found someway to get around it till it was fixed. I may have 1 out of 12 villagers to survive the transport.....not good...takes along time to get to trading.....
Yea & to wait till TU16??!!! TU14 just came out.....it'll be a long while. This breeder system I have is good (by a youtuber called Burnedoutguy) I only use his breeder thing - not his transport. Works really well & then use another guy's (Dataless822) transport & disposal system). Which those two designs would work really great if the villagers wouldn't glitch. Almost all of them die going to the trading stations....but, they move well in minecarts....no deaths there, but no way to dispose of them in the carts without losing the cart itself (I only want to keep the ones with good trades & dispose of the others immediately). Is there anyway to send them down a mine track in the cart & dump them out when they get to their destination - without losing the minecart?
If you Save and Exit then reload when your villagers become adults they do not do this. Same goes for animals when breeding. Whats happening is the hit box is not resetting when they grow up, so the adults still have a child hit box allowing them into certain areas where they will suffocate...

Tu16 is gonna be a bug fix, 4j tweeted this a few days ago. So hopefully it will come soon

This will work for me. I have my system set up to hold the babies till they mature (babies don't move right in my system), then I let them go thru the water channels. Thanks for the help...I knew someone had to know a way of keeping them alive till this got fixed.
You could create a minecart system, hopefully they wouldn't glitch out then.

Mainly with villagers growing up and dying by glitching into walls. Currently I've surrounded them with glass, but that has it's own issues. They can sometimes glitch through and 'escape'.
I think water streams is going to be problematic. With the current villager problems, it's likely the streams will push them into solid blocks and kill them.
Use minecarts.. It's likely the best option at the moment. But be aware there issues with villagers in minecarts at the moment. When reloading the game villagers pop out of minecarts so you kinda have to prepare for that. I set up a booth like thing that restricts their movement.
yea, I had a minecart system instead of water. & it worked well. Only thing is, I couldn't figure out a way to kill the villagers with bad trades without losing the minecarts or doing myself.....any ideas? what ericb1800 suggested is working. I just have to watch when the babies grow up. I save & quit, then come back into the game, release the adults into the water streams, then they move thru the water channels as they should.

Eric, this works fine. Just have to check when they grow up & release the adults. But at least my villagers are surviving. Thanks!!!
I've never tried this myself, but you could try to make a part of your minecart track only 1 block tall, so that any villagers who travel through that part of the track suffocate in the ceiling. You might need to make it so that they stop in this area for a bit while they fully suffocate, then you can have the cart continue down the track.
yea, I think i'm going to go back to minecart tracks for transport. Even the babies are glitching into blocks & dying with the water channels. I have it set up where a pair is breeding. I stop the babies with pistons & blocks. When they grow up, I save the game & then let them thru to trade. But yesterday, the babies started dying at the stop. Getting very few villagers to make it thru. Maybe 1 in several hours of play will make it thru. Gonna try some different track setups. The way it was before, too much redstone around & didn't have room to do the smothering thing....
I use a simple lava blade to dispose of unwanted villagers. It's pretty compact.
I have a booth, the villager is restricted to one block. Half slab above their heads. This booth is along a wall.
There is a dispenser directly behind the villager, 'face' height. The second block to the side of the dispenser is button. On the back of the block with the button put a redstone torch, have redstone one block behind the torch leading sideways from the torch then directly to the dispenser. And put a lava bucket in the dispenser last or else you'll have a mess.
It's very simple and kills the villager with a single press of a button. The minecart is not destroyed as well.
Good luck which ever method you use.. Villagers are a pain to deal with right now.
Babies are a pain!! I went back to a minecart transport, but the babies will not stay in the carts.....I'll hear the cart being dispensed & go & look....nobody in the cart. I'll look around & there will be a baby running all over!!!.....
I have it setup where I stop the cart & check the villager trade before I send him to my actual trading setup. If I like his first trade, I'll send him to my gallery....if not - he is smothered there...but the babies jump out at that point. Guess I'll have to setup a holding area for the babies in carts to grow.....I did have a piston & block setup before they get put in carts, but if there are more then one in the holding area, when one grows up, the baby causes him to glitch into the blocks & die. I could stop the breeding, but it takes 20 mins for them to grow & even longer for my parents to start breeding again.....still too long to get the villagers I'm looking for...dang babies!!!
Na.....only a very few jump from the carts.....so my sytem is good now.....will be better wit the water tho......be glad when the villagers are fixed....
TU16 came out yesterday (May 19th)......gonna to go back to water stream transport.....much better then the minecart....babies sometimes jump out of the carts when they are stopped at a block.....then I have to find them & kill them which stops the breeding for awhile.....hope the fix corrected all the villager glitching into wall problems.....
