I'm trying to make many, many, many farms in my base. But I've ran out of ideas. I have automatic melon farms, wheat farms, iron farm, gold farm, skeleton farm, zombie farm, chicken, pig, cow, sheep of every color, TNT farm (TNT Farm runs off a glitch where if there is a repeated curcuit with an exact delay, then the TNT duplicates), fish farm (also runs off a glitch), emerald farm (runs off a glitch, too.), Blaze Farm (nether), Nether Wart, Sugar Cane, Mushroom, ect ect. I LOVE to be overly-technical, so give me either normal ideas, or outrageous ideas. Please, help, I'm completely drained out of ideas. No youtube videos, please. I don't do stuff off youtube, I like to be creative and do them myself. (P.S All of these are on survival, so nothing that I will have to go to Creative to do.) Thanks. - Dashie

Enderman XP farm? And how about a slime farm or turning a cave system into a beatiful natural like base.
Enderman farm
Semi Auto Coca bean farm
Cobble generator
Stone Generator
Obsidian generator (I think that can be made on XBox)
Record farm
Auto Cactus farm
Semi Auto Pumpkin farm
Semi Auto Flower Farm
Tree farm
Semi Auto Potato Farm
Semi Auto Carrot Farm
Silverfish farm
Snow generator
Made a like 400 long block farm... took about 6 hours 6 stables 5 corrals 1 chicken habitat 1 cow/pig habit and a castle house plus medical center and breeding station
Any ideas hit ya yet... you've got the same name as my sister Jax
Xbox GT: Skandar23
I'd rather not make anything like a silverfish farm, as they don't drop anything. Thanks for the cactus farm idea, I think I'll do that. I also don't see the point of stone and cobblestone generators on Survival, unless you're doing something like skyblock.
PixelDaisies said record farm. A music disk farm would be cool. You could use a generic mob farm and flush the mobs into daylight to get nothing but creepers. You know what.... think I'm going to do that. Yeah, I'm going to make a big old record label.

Actually a silverfish farm can be thought of as 'stored' xp, and will probably turn out to be one of the funnest farms you'll design. The goal is to 'can' them into generated blocks (I chose smoothstone for mine). I also used a duel cannery so to speak. and store them in a very large deep cube. The goal being once the cube is complete bust a few of the buggers out, and hit them with a poison potion, which will cause a chain reaction, (not to mention sever lag/frame rate drops), and massive xp.
There will be a lot of problems that will arise when building this farm, and i won't spoil it for you should you attempt it, as part of the fun is overcoming all the issues that arise. Mine is full automatic, and cans on both sides, with full display indicators on each canary as it works.
Also its not just a matter of building the farms, its a matter of making them look pleasing to the eyes (not always an easy task), and more importantly as efficient as possible, you can have as many farms as you want but if the rates are horrid well....not really a farm then is it.
You could try sorting your mobs, and extracting the creepers for gunpowder rather then cheating, its much more rewarding. While your sorting them why not do a charged creeper farm (sure it depends on luck but still neat when you have a bunch of charged creepers to show, i've had i think about 7 to 9 at one time.
Sadly, my silverfish spawner has been destroyed.
Thanks very much for taking the time to recommend for that to me, it means a lot. I appreciate your time. Also, thanks for the music disc farm idea. I'm going to do that. Great idea with the mob flusher, I'm definitely going to have that. And yes, I know that the most important aspect of a good farm is to look good. I focus on survival, I don't use creative, so that makes it a little more challenging. I like to use my imagination and make my own ideas in my builds, instead of just looking them up. Thanks again for taking the time to help me out.
Glitches where you can force animals into "black rooms" so they will not jump in the wall and suffocate like villagers. You can breed them like normal, but they just don't appear to move. If you're still following this post, then I'd be more than happy to discuss these glitches in greater detail.

I'd have to say that in my opinion, the look of a farm should come second. First should be the functionality of the farm. I believe (and docm77 actually said it in one of his videos which I thought was cool) that form follows function. The working parts of the farm should come first and after the farm works, I then try to pretty it up to whatever theme I'm going for.

I focus on the functionality of the farm (water not freezing up, since I am in winter biome) and then looks. In a bigger base such as mine, you need to be aware of the biomes that your base occupies. Since my base is large enough to take up a whole winter biome, and half a flatland biome, I need to focus on making more farms on the flatland area on my base, so the water doesn't freeze, and I don't have to focus on putting glowstone and jack-o-lanterns under the water. On a flatland, I can focus more on functionality and design, rather than having to take room to prevent ice.
Not sure if your aware of this but you know that if you place any block overtop of a water source (even glass), it will stop the water from freezing right? I'm assuming your referring to water streams and what not. I don't know the application for your water but sometimes this is a viable alternative to having torches/glowstone/lava/pumpkings all over the place.
Also since your looking at farms, and your located in a tundra biome you might think about doing a ice farm, where it create a nice easy to reach cube of ice for quick harvesting, which then comes in rather useful when doing other farms for item routing and what not, albeit if most of your farms are located within the winter biome and your using heat sources to prevent sources from melting, ice probably isn't that useful to you.
Finally Herndiddy, i believe he was referring to me, as I kinda stressed making the farm look good, however my first goal of any farm is efficiency, followed by ease of use (automation). I then go into painstakingly detail on making the farm look visually appealing. There are many times in which users visit my worlds, in which they don't even know that the building in question is a farm, and are more or less intrigued with how it looks. I almost always design the farm in a creative test world first, and then attempt to create a mirror image in survival.
make a farm in the nether. The only thing you can't plant there is sugar cane.
Hardly worth the effort, again boiling down to efficiency, growth in the neither is almost 6 times slower then it would be in the overworld. However that said, I do tend to add some melon plants around where my mob farms are located in the neither as a 'just in case' alternative.
If one was to plant say a field of wheat, potatoes and carrots, they almost have to till/plant instantly or else the land will very quickly revert back to dirt because it can't hydrate itself. This leads to at harvest time either harvest of each plant followed quickly by a replant (very very slow), or harvest the whole field and then till and plant each plant, (slow and hard on tools). Granted one wold probably use wood or stone tools anyhow.
Tree farms in the neither do work faily well, but if not well thought out provide excellent places for ghasts to spawn.
If one was looking to create farms in alternate dimensions one really should be looking at the end as it at least supports water and thus your farm land can be hydrated. One could argue that the endermen would run amunk with the dirt, but once the island has been torched up this shouldn't be an issue.

I've flooded my End with water, so I can prevent Endermen from teleporting outside my enderman farm. So, no End farms or Nether farms. I might do an ice farm later, because even though I don't personally use ice, people in my server do.
Ever thought of making an ice farm... I don't remember if the ice works the same as the pc, but under half slabs things move quicker; including the character.
Of course you would need a silk touch to farm it obviously. So I guess it is semi-auto, similar in concept to cobble/stone farm but with pistons. Also can be similar in design to that of a silver fish farm for easy farming a big block of ice cube; minus the fish of course.
Ice has many uses either way...

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
A nether farm is more than about being efficient. Planting and inclosed space in the nether to look like the above world has a neat factor. Then make an underground nether landscape in the above world.
I've flooded my End with water, so I can prevent Endermen from teleporting outside my enderman farm. So, no End farms or Nether farms. I might do an ice farm later, because even though I don't personally use ice, people in my server do.
I'm using lava to prevent my Enderman spawns. Gives me good spawn prevention with physicality and lighting. I've been meaning to switch to water, as I did in a previous world, but that brings a question to mind. Which would be easier to create in the End: total water-world or total destruction (mining or destroying all blocks)?
Well flooding with lava and water is kinda a waste of time, its MUCH easier to light the area up with torches, a few players can do this in an hour or less.
When establishing my endermen farm my first goal is to get as low as I can, i do this by using the old cobblestone pillar formation by placing lava first and letting it stream down one side of the island then 1 space away placing water, in which cobble will form between the two, once the cobblestone pillar has finished forming i suck up the lava and water, and place a water stream on the outside of the cobble, swim down and set a block where the last cobblestone appears. Its dangerous but after a few times one can do this in thier sleep. You can place ladders while swimming up to enable you to get back down after you reach the top and remove the water source.
With this done, I climb down, and build a bridge all the way out away from the island till I can no longer place blocks, this is usually way more then 32 blocks from the island, establish a platform, and begin construction of your farm.
Point is endermen can't teleport more the 32 blocks along each axis, so you only really need to remove all possible teleport locations within 32 blocks of your farm, anything more is just a waste. I personally prefer to use the end for other projects. One just needs to take care to ensure its well lit to prevent endermen spawns.
