My bf is making a farm but is having trouble breeding cows as it says he has reached his mob cap. He only has four cows, no pigs, and like 15 sheep. We noticed there are tons of animals around his NPC village. Will those count as breed able mobs when they are wandering about? Any tips? What is the passive mob cap and how is it classified between mob types?
Pigs, cows, and sheep are all in one group of animals; chickens, mooshrooms, ocelots, villagers, and wolves all have their own cap.
And the cap is basically there to prevent an unholy amount of mobs being spawned in creative or bred in survival, which'd cause massive lag.

Pigs Cow sheep and Ocelots/cat are in one group. I dont like cats/ocelots because is takes mob cap for my cows

They are?
I had near the limit of "The sheep group" in my world before TU12 biome-shifted me into a jungle.
Now I have the same number of sheep and an unholy amount of cats.
