Just started playing on xbox and im trying to figure out how to play with others online. Also my roommate is playing and we are trying to figure out how he can play on the same saved seed i started. We can split screen but when he try to load the map with the seed code all our work is not in his game. Any ideas?
Wolfe nailed it. But to save you from a "WTF?!?!" moment in the future, here's a tip. When updates are made to terrain generation, the same seed will differ to some extent.

You will need to purchase an Xbox LIVE Gold account. You can use your credit/debit card online or buy a pre-paid subscription card at any major (and most minor) department stores. Have any of these cards ready and click "Join Xbox LIVE" on your dashboard. Follow the steps from there.
Not at the moment. Someone has to physically host an online game for others to join. And that person has to be online and playing in that world for others to be able to join as well. It's a little annoying but at least it is an option at all! The downside to not being the host is the chunks load slower than if you are the host, but once they are loaded in it runs pretty smooth!

If you are just looking for a regular world that you and your room mate can joining separately and have your stuff then I would recommend finding a 24/7 server in the server section. Another player hosts the map so if one of you isn’t playing at the time the other can still get on the world.
