I Am Attempting To Create A Currency System For A Multiplayer RPG Server On Xbox. I Want To Post My Idea And See The Feedback But Also See Other's Ideas For A Money Setup. My Idea Is That Sponge ( SG ) Will Be Used As The Currency Since It Cannot Be Found In The World Or Used To Craft Something. Each Sponge Is One Dollar And You Get 15 When You Join The Server. I Haven't Figured It All Out But Here Is What I Think The Prices Would Be If You Wanted To Buy Something From A Shop:
Gold Ingot = 5 SG
Gold Pickaxe = 15 SG
Iron Ingot = 15 SG
Iron Pickaxe = 45 SG
Diamond = 40 SG
Diamond Pickaxe = 120 SG
Prices Are Based On Usefulness And Demand.
Tell Me What You Think And Your Ideas! I Need Quick Responses Because My Server Might Be Becoming Public Soon.
Oh gosh, please stop capitalizing every single word.
It is not needed and makes reading very, very annoying (so much so that I didn't even read all of that).
Also, this section is for making suggestions to be added to the game. If you need suggestions, please post in the Discussion section of the 360 subforum.
And really, the currency depends on the world.
If it's a regular world with no specific rules in regards on obtaining materials, you will never see me in a store since I can go and find my own things.
Money tends to not work in most servers. There has been only one that I've seen in which it has run flawlessly, which was "The Rise of Kronarch," which used a virtual currency (which was stored and managed by the host in an Microsoft Excel file) based around Iron.
The Barter System (that players will spontaneously work out between themselves behind your back) will always win out.
A workable currency system is.... unworkable.
Wezabi, I am thinking that there shouldn't be a server shop. There would only be player shops because players wouldn't buy an iron ingot from a player shop if they can go to a server store and get as many as they can afford.
Also, bartering is a good idea, but this is a RPG ( Roll Playing Game ) Server, so I would like to have money and stores, like real life.
BloodyPhoenix, you have only seen money work on one server? There are hundreds, if not thousands of PC Servers that run money plugins to put currency into the game. So if it can work on PC, surely it could work on Xbox.
If anyone has a working money Xbox server, please tell me how you do it. Thanks.
Only way it would work is if you kept a log of every single trade to make sure someone doesnt' have something they're not supposed to have but good luck with that lol
