In the latest update my bonus chest had melon seeds in it when I spawned. Is this a bug?
I haven't had melon seeds in my chest yet (that I remember), but I have had pumpkin seeds show up. I just figure it's a random thing in the programming instead of a bug.

This was done for older worlds, and it seems worlds generated without ways to get those items. Which is kinda cool I think.
