I know that there is a book in the creative menu that had Sharpness V and it is possible. However, is there a way to get Sharpness V in survival legit? I have tried a few different things and couldn't figure it out. I assume it uses an anvil but to my avail i couldn't figure it out.
EDIT: I'm not sure about specifically "sharpness v", but other enchanted books can be obtained in chests that are in dungeons, strongholds, desert temples, jungle temples, and in mineshafts.

Thanks I'll be sure to check generated areas the next new world i make.
I've yet to try it in the bug fix update, but you may be able to combine enchanted books of the same effect and level (ie, two Sharpness I books), in an anvil to create a single Sharpness II book. In TU 12, I believe I had a Gold Sword w/ Sharpness V, although I may be remembering incorrectly.
You can combined two Sharpness IV to make a Sharpness V. It can combined two books, combined a book to a sword or combined two swords. The book or sword has to be a Sharpness IV thou. A Sharpness III wont work

I have tried combining two books in the anvil and it didn't produce anything. As for the gold sword, i think that it can get sharpness v regularly in the enchanting table.

For some reason I couldn't combine any enchanted books together in an anvil but I will try the 2 sharpness swords together, thanks!
By repairing two sharpness IV swords you should get a sharpness V sword in return - be prepared to spend a lot of XP to do this. As per the enchantment table, you can only get sharpness V on a gold sword.
if you use a sword with sharpness iv with a book of sharpness iv does it as well... This works for all books to go up to the next level... Put level 1 book on to start with it, then use a level 1 book to get it to level 2 , then a level 2 book will raise it to 3 and so forth... You can start with whatever level book you want then use the same type book to increase level...
I found and enchanted book in desert temples, and the Minecraft Wiki says you can find them in desert temples. So you can.
Just so you know, the Minecraft Wiki is based more on the PC version, and not so much on the Xbox360 version. So while a lot of the information is now in the console versions, the wiki isn't always the greatest thing to quote.

I think the limit is 2 books in survival. You can try enchanting the sword on an enchantment table and get sharpness 4 then use a sharpness 4 book in the anvil to get sharpness 5. Never tried that so im not sure if it works.

There is no such limit that I have found... I have used 7 books on a pickaxe to get it to Eff V, UnBreak III, and Fortune III... And the same pickaxe can be repaired at 45 levels experience...
The only limit I have seen is what enchantments can be put on what items...

There is a limit.... Sort of.
There's a thing called 'prior work penalty'. Simply put, once you repair/combine something in the Anvil it costs a little more every time you repair it again. The cost is 2 levels for each repair/combination the tool or weapon has been through not including the current one. This is one of the reasons things start to get expensive. So imagine you repaired something 3 times.. you're paying 6 extra levels that fourth time you go to repair it. The good news is that renaming it caps the penalty at 2 levels. So rename items you want to keep early.
Once you reach the 39 level cap for survival you're not going to be able to repair the item without it becoming seriously expensive. One diamond at a time and each time counts as 'prior work'. So 45 levels to repair with 7 books used isn't the best route to take in survival. (Unless it was renamed early.)
I have a couple efficiency V tools and I renamed them early, but keeping them repaired is still a little expensive. This penalty is likely why Cobra_Crusher perceived a limit, but I'm guessing here.:)
So, my advice is to rename your stuff as early as you can..

Yea I dont know too much about the mechanics of repairing... Until recently I wasnt even repairing them, just making new... That is good info to know for the future however... And I havent seen an increase in xp needed when adding books except that higher level books tend to need more to be put on... Could very well be I wasnt paying that close attention to it but will from now on...

Yeah it only is really noticeable when you go to repair that uber pick the fourth or fifth time. I noticed it recently and went to look things up about it. Got me thinking about the best way to build a sword.. one I have now if too expensive to keep. Going to have to start over.
