could be that the spawn location changed to the center of the map....
Just an idea I would like to put out there, since my 1.7.3 map's initial spawn location got changed to the center of the map. Origianlly when it was somewhere else.
Since the bonus chest is based on initial spawn point, that is where it will roughly spawn.
I actually haven't had troubles with this since TU15 came out. All the maps that I checked that box at initial creation had their bonus chest spawn. Haven't checked my new TU14 map though, so I don't know if that one finally came back. All I know is my TU9 & TU13 maps have them.
TU13 one I actually broke and got rid of and saved. So it is definitely part of the save file from that behavior. There is no way for my 1.7.3 map to get the chest as that was created long before those even came out. Which is ok, as there are other things in the TU15 that I can add to it. Would be nice if there was a way for those maps, but I am not going to hold my breathe on that one. One reason I have so many maps in the first place.
Still like working on them despite what I can not put in them.
Interesting to hear that it is still a bit buggy. Although they came back for me, I guess I am one of the lucky ones. *shrugs* I am more glad of some of the other fixes mainly, the ones that were causing a slow down in what I do; which is building & mining.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Bonus chests have reappeared for me in both the TU13 and TU14 worlds. However, there still isn't the option to turn bonus chests off and on. I guess it will depend on when you originally made the world if you get a bonus chest or not. I have received both potatoes and carrots in my bonus chests. As of yet, I haven't been able to get zombies to drop them. So YAY for bonus chests!
I had the same problem. Its not that your spawn moved. I have a world created in the TU5, I just removed all the chest around my spawn than I saved and quit. When I loaded my world there was a chest there. you might have to quit without saving and reload if you want a chest with jungle saplings and/or pumkin/watermelon seed

not quite... That is if the spawn did indeed move. Of course that map that the spawn moved on was one I saved in each version of the game. The spawn changed in 1.8.2 update, don't know the TU# of that.
It was originally in the south somewhere, but moved to the center of the map. someone at the time mentioned that it would center out per say. So if it did move it would be around the center of the map; 0,0 I believe. A short radius around that maybe have a look. Else I can only assume that it just didn't respawn at the original or the adjusted new spawn.
One way to look at it. So searching the entire map isn't quite necessary. However since yours is an newer map by comparison, it is unlikely that the spawn did change. So from there it could be just a glitch that happened long ago as well. One map I created a while back in the TU that introduced it or maybe a bit later, there was simply no bonus chest at all. The initial spawn was in a jungle/swamp (don't remember which, as I don't have that world anymore.)
The area around spawn was hilly regardless, and many trees near an ocean. From that I can only conclude it tried to spawn somewhere in the water and failed. But that was a long time ago. Makes me wonder if you have one of those rare worlds that simply doesn't spawn one even with that option checked. There were a lot of problems with bonus chests when it was introduced. Could be one of those bugs that is selective from back then. I also know bringing up one in TU12 when jungles was introduced had the same effect when it was at spawn and there just happens to be not a single bit of ground open for it to spawn; mainly leaf cover on that one....
That was only twice I have had that happen. once long ago and once when jungles were introduced. Haven't had problems with it since; well beyond what happened in TU14 that is.

well, my map isnt "new", but I dont remeber in what TU I started this.. but, I will have a look in my area, to se if the chest is somewhere nerby, ou if I just have a bad luck!
( the great new is the after killiing so many zoombies, I finaly get carrots! YEY!! )
