The Minecraft Wiki says carpet doesn't prevent mob spawning. But does it affect mob spawning on blocks mobs normally don't spawn on? If I put carpet on slabs, can mobs spawn there?
I have no idea why I'm doing the research for you.
The answer is: it depends.
No- mobs do not spawn on slabs.
Yes- mobs can spawn on top of upside down slabs and on double slabs (from wiki).
While carpets do not prevent mobs from spawning, they don't always cause mobs to spawn either- carpets will retain qualities from some blocks they are placed on top of (also from wiki).
So I have the following questions: Doesn't lighting have a lot more to do with whether you get mobs or not? If it's important to know if you will get mobs on carpeted slabs, why would you bother slabbing and carpeting a dark room to get mobs? What are you trying to accomplish?
