With text censoring apparently gone from signs does this mean it's possible the console versions are going to get written books?
Or do you think this is just some accidental good news and will get patched again?
This is purely speculation but maybe 4J convinced MS to drop that particular policy so all the console versions will mirror each other (assuming Sony doesn't have similar policies in place).
Anyway, I outta here. My villagers need a brothel...
I hope they get added to Creative (at least), as there are a number of players that would appreciate this feature for their 'adventure maps' and such, and can be much more convenient than signs. I'm not sure how necessary they are for survival mode, however.

Although still useful as signs in survival mode. You could still write your own story or locations of certain things; like you would in creative, but with more function to it.
As far as necessary, not really, but would be a perk however. If what was said is true, then I wouldn't mind seeing it in game. But far as I know 4J has stated otherwise in the past... this is one of those things I will have to see it announced by them or such to believe it.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
4J already said at a Minecon that they have no plans of ever doing the Book and Quill. Mostly because it would be extremely monotonous to type all of that with the on screen keyboard. also probably because of the language filter, which is an Xbox Live thing and not a game specific thing.
And yes, some people have those keyboard attachments on their controllers but not everyone does.

The SOLE reason was the language filter. Withholding an option because it might inconvenience someone is not a good reason. It like a developer saying, "Yeah our game won't utilize the left thumb stick because some people don't have left thumbs."
The point is, the playing field has changed. Or at least it appears so.

Regardless whether you feel it is a good reason or not, it WAS the primary reason given by 4J at Minecon 2012 (which is what MG was basically saying)... and to date, there has been no indication from 4J that they have changed their minds on this. IMO, speculating about it serves really no good purpose... other than perhaps getting people's hopes up... perhaps only to have them dashed down again later. Keep in mind that book and quill was added to the PC Edition in their version 1.3... so IF it was coming, we should have gotten it in this last update.

You're smart enough to know that's just the politics of the industry... they aren't going to publicly trash talk the policies of the guy who writes the check.
But you're right about speculating and getting peoples' hopes up. I just wanted to see what other people thought of the situation, that's all. As to when we /should/ be getting this or that item, I don't think holding to such a rigid formula of when the PC got it is a good indication of if/when the consoles get it.
