Played some in TU14 way too late last night, well, this morning. I'm wondering about whether there is any way to get carrots and potatoes in an existing TU13 game? We've put a lot of work into our game, fixing up and protecting multiple villages, building railroads and houses, etc. but it seems like the only way to get carrots and potatoes is to start a new game. I saw a thread in the PS3 section about it, saying the they will appear in villages and boxes, but only in new games. Seems like they would have thought about introducing them into existing games, maybe by having one of the mobs randomly drop them.
I guess if there's no other way we can go into creative mode and seed some, but we have so far avoided having to do anything like that.
If you can still get a bonus chest they supposedly can come in them but for some odd reason some TU13 worlds I have can get them still others cant.
Anyway when they fix the bug then Zombies will have a chance of dropping carrots and potatoes.
If your pre-TU14 world was fully explored before the TU14 update, then you will not get any potatoes in bonus chests, if you still had unexplored areas after the TU14 update, then you still have a (remote) chance of finding them in your 'TU13 unexplored areas'.

What does the "bonus chest" have to do with generated chunks. Possibility of chests having them I really don't know, but they might; that is when generated chunks should matter.
I have seen them appear in the bonus chest itself, which is only settable at world creation. Well potatoes at least.... So I would assume the carrots are possible too among other new additions to what the bonus chest can have. Still basic stuff though.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

My bad, I read that as generated chests... as you might find in dungeons and such.

I also should revoke my statement for the moment, as I just found out bonus chests in TU14 do not spawn back. Even on new worlds, which makes it useless for me in the way I use them. I know some are the same way, as it is always nice to get new items in the bonus chest. It was a suggestion I hoped they would put in to some degree.
So far though I don't really know if it was intended to be this way or not. So I look at it as a bug till we get the bug update, or they say otherwise. *sigh* I can only hope villagers sell those two items, as well maybe in the future selling the rarer saplings; ie jungle & spruce, if not all 4, but be a rare trade to find.... Here's to hoping.

I have seen posts scattered about that this will be patched and zombies will eventually have the chance of dropping carrots. I hope this happens.
I still spend quite a bit of time in a TU 12 world, ( on survival) and with the exception of Jungle Trees, the other updates I was hoping for did become a part of that world.
I am inclined to believe the same will be true once TU 14 bugs are worked out. After all- you may have noticed your pigs will not eat wheat now. They must get some carrots eventually or you will have to swith it to creative or abandon your prior worlds. Hopefully this is not what the developers have in mind.
On TU15, Zombies will rarely drop either potatoes, carrots or iron ingots so kill loads of them when TU15 comes around which will probably be very very soon!

Theres a jungle sapling in the bonus chests so when they fix the bonus chest glitch you can have jungle wood in pre TU12 worlds.
Use bonus chest, because zombies don't drop them, even in TU14 servers.
as another poster pointed out earlier, the changelog says this will be corrected with TU 15 and Zombies will have rare drops for carrots. I have a zombie spawner/grinder and will be patient. Stay hungry, piggies.
Ahhh fixed. Thank you looting sword and thank you Zombie. Back in the Pig Farming business, and soon to ride one over a cliff with a carrot on a stick.

PS: why no horses?
I'm not sure. I think the only way to obtain carrots and potatoes is by going in creative, unfortunately

Until the bug is fixed most likely.
