I have already started this when i started posting seeds, but i guess i can hint at it some more. If you haven't noticed my location, its a mini spoiler.
i am going through each generated seed using variable numbers. using all 60 characters in both the positive and negative directions. an example is 2500
that's all im releasing now. stay tuned for future updates (may take a few months)part 2 [Secret...For Now]part 3 [Secret...For Now]if your intrested in helping, pm me
Interesting idea but It is not possible to map each seed because there are too many seed combinations that exist. If everyone here contributed, it would still probably take a lifetime or more to do this. Also, what do you do when the biomes shift again?

The TU 14 update isnt here yet. That means, there's still time to get the seeds GENERATED before they change again
The main problem is getting all the seeds generated before the update hits
I am keeping a document that lists the seeds ive done, which ones i still have to generate, and which ones i need a picture of
want an example?
"*" Picture Has Been Snapped But Has Not Been Edited Yet
"}" Seed Has Been Edited & Is Ready For The Collection
this is complety optional to be apart of. plus, this will be a nice archive of TU 13. try an image search of the tu 13 maps. you wont find much (not including this forum)
The biomes will likely not shift until TU15 or later, so you will have time to document many worlds before then. However, you will never be able to map all the worlds - not even close. Further, once the biomes do shift the mapped worlds are useless, and the contribution to the MC community is not large enough to make the time spent doing this worthwhile. You would have something useful if you could make a program using the same world-generation algorithm to generate and store snapshots of each world, and also categorizing each world by biome percentage. You will likely never get the algorithm, so you will be unable to do this as well.
when they do shift with whatever update brings it, ill just restart after about a day or 2 getting to know the new update. in searches, i see variable amounts of pictures ranging about tu 10 to 12. i cant program so im not even going to waste time doing that
I don't know how long this project would take as I am not sure how many different seeds there are, but...let's say there are 1000000 different seeds (and i'm sure it's a hell of a lot more) and it takes an average of two minutes per map (type in seed, load map, fly around to create map, then snapshot to facebook), working 24 hours a day it would take 1388 days. Is this really a viable project? What is your ultimate intention and is it really worth your time and effort?
There are more like 2^64 seeds. It takes me about 10 minutes to map each world with the strongest potion of swiftness, and that does not include loading the world and taking any time to explore the world. More like 20-30 minutes to explore the world, with longer times for more seeds that have more villages.
so you don't want to see varying seeds that have not been posted or have yourself a copy or 2 for when the biomes update and cant be returned to? apparently, no one likes history as these seeds will be a memento of what TU 13 was like. know what...forget i said anything about this project. I'll continue with what im doing and ill publish my results when the time comes. If you don't want to be apart of this, that's fine. Head back to your survival mode. you would of been credited for the seeds you have done
to put this project another way, as stated by this quote
(type in seed, load map, fly around to create map, then snapshot)
, this is like building a PvP map, each part of the map has sections. each participant takes their section and works on it. one participant could of worked on seeds 1-5, the next on 6-20 or whatever.

I think some people would find it a bit daunting to map the 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 seeds that are available in the game and then doing it again after the next title update to compare the differences, assuming it takes roughly 20 min to map out a world... that would be a total of ...
6,148,914,691,236,517,205.333 player-hours to map, save, and post all those maps...
256,204,778,801,521,550.222 player-days
701,452,375,780,690.844 player-years
roughly 7 Billion people in the world in total... so if you managed to get absolutely everyone in the world on board with this....
It should take you approximately 97 years to complete... that's assuming no one is sleeping, eating, or doing anything else of course....Just solid mapping... so realistically, assuming 8 hour days, 5 days a week, 40 hr work weeks on mapping alone: about 409.5 years to complete with everyone in the world working diligently together.
...and then do it all again after TU14 rolls out.
It would take your team less time to first Learn a High Level Programming Language and then recreate the entire Windows 8 operating system from the ground up .... from scratch.

It's hardly history, it is just a series of random patterns generated by a formula. I can't ever imagine wanting to have a 'copy or two' of several billion minecraft maps. I really don't think i'm missing out on this one. I do like history though, just history that's actually of some use or interest. Wouldn't you rather spend your time enjoying minecraft as intended, as a game, rather than providing a service that nobody really wants or needs? Each to their own I guess.
I enjoy the idea that every world I generate is extremely likely to be unique. It's very likely that when I generate a world on my own that world will not be one that someone has been seen before.. It's possible that someone somewhere generated the same seed as me, but not likely.
What you want to do is like telling me the ending of my favorite book before I even know it's my favorite book. Like telling an interstellar space explorer there are no stars left to see..
Sooo.. you want to log trillions of seeds? That 7 year old space explorer inside of me is glad that the sheer number of seeds possible is utterly against you.

And that just made my night.
Keh, and I thought that guy mining out the entire map was nuts....
Stay fluffy~

Retired StaffWhile this project is very unique, I think we can all agree that this topic is spiraling downward fast.
