After seeing the capture the ghast video, I want to have a "ZOO" in my world. Is there a safe way to capture a creeper without it exploding? & what is the block distance that they explode? 2, 3 4 blocks from you? I just watched a video that said 4 blocks was the safe distance where they detonate....is this correct?

Currently it's not possible to make a zoo with any hostile mobs. They will despawn. If we ever get Name Tags sometime in the future it might be possible..Even then it would be a bit expensive. Name tags are not craftable, you have to find them in chests. So it wouldn't be easy..

That said, you could trap one in a cage by having it drop into the cage from above, then cap the cage from a safe distance.

Yeah.. but this wasn't a persistent zoo. They did it for a challenge and fun. It wasn't a zoo that you go caving for an hour a hundred blocks away or even thirty and expect the mobs to still be there when you get back. They would despawn.

Unless you care about achievements or leaderboards in that world, just use creative and when Nametags come out name them in creative because they won't attack in creative unless you attack them.

Yea, just something fun to do. Got the cages built. Put them against the side of a cliff. Now to lure a creeper, skeleton & zombie into their appointed cage. Should be fun. Already have a slime viewing area in the ovewrworld. It's like a real zoo. Sometimes they are there sometimes they're not. Depends on your luck.
