The wiki says the usable (mineable) area is 862X862 (some say 864X864), though what you see is bigger than that with an edge sea. Many people think it's a great size with plenty of room for mining, building, and wood cutting- though some "explorers" will never be happy unless they're totally unrestricted (i.e. it has 'infinite' size worlds).
As far a multiplayer, I don't do that so I'll let others answer that.
Anyone have both PC and Xbox Minecraft and prefer the Xbox version? If so, why?
I own both.
The Xbox 360 Edition is way more optimized than the PC version. Whenever I play on my PC, it lags, stutters, frame rate drops, etc, etc. Granted my PC isn't amazing, but it's enough.
Everything is just easier on the console version. It's easier to play with friends, easier to craft, etc.
xbox is OK with multiplater EXCEPT:
1- you will get griefed
2- once you get about 6 or more players on the map it runs better if people stay in the same area. Even 4 or 5 spread out on the map can lag badly
I have xbox and pc versions. xbox feels like a game. pc feels like im at the office
