My name is Keiichi. You can call me Kei or Sprouter Bunny or whatever you like. It's been a long time since I posted an introduction on an online forum so I'm really kinda walking in the dark here with this intro, but whatever!
Anyway, so what's new? Well, for me, registering on this website is a bit of a pain than I imagined. I thought that 'Curse' thingy on the top of the bar was just some kind of advertisement. I never thought I'd have to go through that to actually register on post on the forum. Oh well!
Let's talk about Minecraft! Now this game was a game I knew back when it first came out. Don't kill me for this, but I ignored it. FOR YEARS. However I did play back in Alpha for a good 30 minutes until I got really bored and uninstalled it. I don't know. Back then I assumed the game had childish graphics and very simplistic gameplay that I had no idea what all the hooplah was about.
Fast forward 2 years later, I bought an XBOX 360 because my son accidentally spilled chocolate milk all over my computer and fried it. I didn't really had the money to buy a new one at the time so I opted to purchase an XBOX 360 for other forms of entertainment since I'm more of a 'PC' guy. Now, a friend of mine recently suggested that I play Minecraft and because I just recently finished playing Far Cry 3 and some other games, I figured "Oh hell, why the frog not? I've nothing to play anyway and I guess after all these years, I could give this game a second chance to entertain me."
So I went to my local department store and purchased the CD version of Minecraft. I then popped that beast into the 360, updated it into the latest update or whatever it is and then, loaded my very first survival game.
I was blown away. I don't know why I didn't feel it before when the game first came out. I don't know if it was just the boredom, but the game just simply amazed me. So much interaction with the environment and it felt really good. Simple to say, I was very much addicted to the game and it was a very good "after work" stress release.
Now, this is the part where it just gets wrong and retarded, pardon my french.
As you can see, I have 2 worlds. One set in survival (random seed) and one set in creative (random seed). I invest more time in creative mode as I use it as some sort of testing grounds for equipments and items that I would plan to use on survival. Sort of like an interactive schematic.
So I built this world in creative. REALLY large world. I mean, I've put every single amount of time on it. Hell, me and my wife even argued that I spend more time on Minecraft than with her, but that is irrelevant to this problem. So I created this world, right? I created this HUGE city with lots of houses. The number one aspect of this city that I made, that I'm very much proud of, is the train station I built. This train station houses multiple tracks that lead to different places. And this is not your ordinary railway tracks where you just place a set of single blocks on a straight line and then place your rails. No. This railway system has its own underground AND underwater railway tracks that goes a looooooooooooooooooooooong way to its destination. It's fully housed, roofed and well lit. One leads to another village and another one leads to the underground fortress where the The End portal is. It's all convenient to players since I'm planning to use it as some sort of survival grounds for my friends in case I finish all of it. The underground fortress was also revised and I replaced all the mossy stone blocks with new ones to have that sort of 'new fortress' look, kinda like having that new car 'smell' thing.
Anyway, it's safe to say that I have invested at least 4-5 months of constant beautification of just my creative world alone. The time I spent on it was of no laughing matter. I am a very busy person and the time I invested on this game is just important for me.
Now, on to the problem! One night, while I was working on my underwater railway, adding a few fabulous touches(I swear, I am not homosexual), I got bored. So, I saved my game and went to the title screen to relax my muscles. I was browsing around the options menu and did some light reading about the TU Update 13, regarding about something they fixed about some world seeds. Something called 'Journey'.
So since I was bored, I then loaded up a new save, named my world "Borderlands" (God, that game was sweet) and punched in the seed 'Journey'. When the map loaded, all I notice was that I spawned in some kind of mushroom biome and it was ALL ocean. So I got tired of exploring and eventually quitted the game.
Now this is where it gets funky.
After quitting the game to go to the menu and delete this random world that I made, my creative mode world was gone.
Yes. MY CREATIVE WORLD DISAPPEARED.
It's just gone. All I saw was my survival world and that random 'Borderlands' world that I made that I was getting ready to delete.
The creative save was no longer there.
I was like "WHAT IN THE HELL IS GOING ON?!?!?!"
So I went to my XBOX Home, looked into my storage and sure enough, the save file for my creative world was not there anymore. I tried turning off my XBOX and resetting the game, hopefully wishing that it was just a random game or console glitch, but to no freaking avail.
This is a fun feature! I didn't know the XBOX or Minecraft randomly and inconveniently deletes your world for you! That is 4-5 months of hardcore gaming. GONE. That map was special for me because I had SO MANY plans. So many projects lined up, like adding a new train track to a snow biome. But now it's gone, and I'm very depressed. So depressed in fact, that I haven't touched Minecraft in a long while. I almost cried when my map disappeared.
What is going on? Could someone please shed some light on this? What is my console or the game doing to me? How could they just delete my world, which I worked so hard on, disappear like that? It could have at least left a god dang memo or something.
Sigh.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and thank you if you ever come here to shed some light on my problem. I really do appreciate every single help I get. I know how busy most of you people are too. I'll probably buy a nice 64GB flash drive to store and backup my XBOX save games there. This event simply traumatized me.
I'm out.
P.S.
Another little problem of sorts that I'm encountering with the game as of late, is that every time I play on my survival map, there's this player or mob that keeps harassing me. I play on singleplayer mode and I set my options to invite only. So I'm guessing this is not a player but a mob of some sort. It looks like one of those zombies, except this thing is light skinned and walks like a normal player. I first encountered this thing while I was building my first mining house. It keeps pressing the button that opens my door outside my house incessantly. It won't stop and it is really annoying. Often times, I would walk downstairs from my second floor house and will find the door is missing, then creepers, skeletons and other manner of annoyance would start waltzing inside the house, wreaking havoc. I tried to look this thing up on the wiki and I can't seem to find anything about it since I have absolutely no clue what it is. At least those enderman guys just randomly picks up dirt blocks and leaves it in front of my lawn. This thing is just annoying. The creepiest thing that this thing did was probably the time I was sleeping in my bedroom (2nd floor) and it was peeking in the god dang window while the screen was fading to black. I had to remove the window panes and replace them with stone blocks after. Thankfully, that thing sort of calmed down now, since back when I was playing my survival map, I haven't seen it for a couple of days after that. I figure that since the game applies every bit of realism aspect it could cram into the game, I assumed it was probably a new mob/entity similar to the villagers. Only this one griefs you by randomly vising your house and destroying structures.
TL;DR--OP's world was deleted by some mysterious reason, which then leads up to a Herobrine-like post.
Answer: The game tends to glitch out. My world was deleted, too. Back up every world that has importance and stop trying to pull a prank.
What is a Herobrine?
Prank? This is serious and it happened to me.. I know that the makers of Minecraft, Mojang or whatever anyone else for that matter cannot do anything to get my save back but I at least want to find out what happened to it. I just started playing Minecraft 5 months ago and I'm still learning all the things I should or could learn. I'm just stating out what I clearly experienced, that's all. I wouldn't register on the forums, after playing for so many months, just to prank anyone, which I still have no idea why my post was labeled as a prank. =/

No computer, game console, tablet, smart phone, game or app is perfect. They may, if nothing else but on a random fluke, lose a file. Stuff happens. As you already figured out, all you can do is periodically back up important files on your console to a USB.
(You back up your PC "just in case", don't you?)
No one can explain why it happened, or can even say if it will (or will not) ever happen again. But the Boy Scout motto, "Be prepared" applies here.
Though unnecessarily long and wordy, I read all of your post and I was feeling quite sorry for you that you lost so much work. Been there myself and I can relate.
I've spent several years and hundreds of hours playing MC on the PC, xbox, and PE so I think I can safely say I've had plenty of experience with MC.
You had me.... till I read the "PS" part.
My bad.
As with most plane crashes, the most likely cause is pilot error. I have accidentally delete worlds and/or overwritten worlds that I did not intend (i.e. without realizing that I was making this mistake at the time).
LOL!!!!! BloodyPheonix love your xbox id - GoatsWithRakes.....LOL!!!! Wish the PS of OP's post was true. Would be neat to have a character doing stuff like that. Nothing deadly, just annoying.....I guess that would be the Herobrine......
