I am creating a server right now for xbox. On PC there is portals that servers use to teleport you to games. For example: Johnny wanted to play hunger games. Instead of walking or using a minecart he would easily hop into a portal [no not a nether or end portal] and play his game. WHY IS THERE NO PORTALS! This really frustrates me and i extremely hope that add this on the new update. Does anyone have any ideas of how i could use things instead of minecart or running to distances? I am so sick of it.
Sorry but nope, no other way unless you want to fly by using creative or host priv...
Xbox is different from PC and behind it, so we may never get portals because of them being on different machines or because of xbox being behind the PC version in updates and all.
There is nothing in the game remotely close to what you want. It's either Minecarts, walking, or using the travel ratio of the Nether to get there faster. Those Portals are mods on the PC. 4J is currently only doing the basic game. If they decided to sell DLC in the future that isn't skins and texture packs, that might be one thing they make.
The closest thing we'll ever get is if they add command blocks and allow us to use them to teleport players using said command blocks.
This somewhat can be done, but would require a massive amount of work, but would require 2 steps, enter a portal, arrive in the neither, and exit the portal. However this is going to take a massive amount of work, and all its going to do is from the center of the overworld, teleport you to either the north, south, east or west of the map.
To begin one would need to go to the center of the overworld, and construct 4 neither portals, around 5 to 10 blocks apart from each other, one north, east, south and west. Enter the neither and begin filling the entire neither up with some block of choice, until there is only a spots left that are in the north, south east and west, construct portals at each location in the neither and exit them, you should arrive at the very north, south, east or west of the map depending on the portal.
How it works is the portals in the center of the over world, will try and create a new portal or look for a portal matching its location in the neither but because there is no air blocks and valid location for it it will continue seeking the closest portal to link to which should be its corresponding cardinal direction in the neither.
It should be noted however its a 1 way trip, though in theory one could possibly close and deactivate the cardinal portal once a player travels through it, but I'd need to test and play with it to really know if its possible or not, and completely filling the neither with some block well I'm just not gonna do that anytime soon.
It's not really that much of a problem on xbox anyway as the worlds aren't all that big. Even just running without using a minecart doesn't take that long to get around. Just build things closer together if it's bothering you that much maybe? I use mine carts to get to key parts of my map.
