So I played MC on Live with my son and a couple other kids the other day in survival mode.. and when i do this I am really strict about being kind and I give the kids stuff when they start (requesting only that they put them in chests before we stop so I can give them out again if they are still useful) and I play w/o privileges so we are all equal..(I cant be invincible or fly, etc) But after we got done I loaded the game up and oddly it said it was saved in creative mode and I was like.. uh okay.. And so when i got in there was a pile of iron blocks high right outside our hideout and then a mine that could not have possibly been entered and exited without flying or something.. Regardless.. The mine led me to ore galore (rhymes.. im lame) and then out of a 20 min expedition I came back with 12 diamonds and tons of gold and iron. Is it unheard of for someone to hack the level and maybe add useful things to it to thank one of the few people who respect their guests? Just curious... Like I said, the mine was deep and not buried so I know someone did not just use blocks to get out of it or anything. and the fall into the shaft would kill anyone easy..
To the best of my knowledge - it is impossible for an external client (i.e. someone who joins you over Live) to change the status of your world to creative mode. I hate to create trouble in your family, but my first suspicion would be your son booting up the world when you're not around. The fact that it said it was saved in creative mode leads me done this path. If you hadn't mentioned that, I would suspect the duping glitch.

My son is only 7 and was at my parents (I was on his acct and my parents got live over there for him) so i reckon thats impossible! lol! (plus he is strictly monitored at home when hes on the game b/c I make sure he isn't saying things over live that can put him in danger.... He isnt supposed to play with anyone over 14 unless I am on too... etc) It has to be something else.. bc the only other person is my bf and he wouldnt know a thing about that game.. he dreads even seeing the startup screen! Oh and just to mention, I am only mildly bummed about the mode change.. it would never cause hate or trouble.. lol. I was more curious because of the usefulness of the ores I found in the mine I dont recall being there during play.
LOL I only have one and he was at his grandparents.. mind you I am totally not mad and its very possible that the kids dug the mine and were still in it when I ended the game or killed themselves/respawned after digging it. But I was just curious whether or not they could alter my level thru some scripting related to the seed id or something.. *shrug.* Afterall, my son claims that some Notch guy gives diamonds and even tho I am aware that there are a lot of "legends" about this game passed from player to player and so forth.. As far as the mode change its very possible that I may have accidently loaded it in creative but got off w/o saving it when I noticed.. But like I said.. the mine is what perplexes me most of all. Cuz when I said Chris was sick and heading to bed one of them did say "Chris is going to love what we are doing" Its silly I guess I should just live with the mystery. haha. BTW one kid I am teaching to play REALLY liked a level I made in creative and its massive and he wants to explore it.. (underwater glass forts, mazes, etc) IS there way to send him a copy of my level.. Like email it from a thumb drive or maybe from the xbox itself?? (if this feature doesn't exist it TOTALLY should!)
But I was just curious whether or not they could alter my level thru some scripting related to the seed id or something.. *shrug.*
Is it possible for your 7 year old to hack the game remotely through scripting? Technically, yes... and just about as likely as him building a nuclear particle accelerator in your garage...
Your parents (his grandparents) obviously has an XBox360 over there :

If the game got saved to the cloud, and the user account that created the world was loaded on that console, then all the changes could have been done from there by just loading the world in creative mode, making those changes and saving it again.
I have to concur with everyone else, this is by far the more likely cause. (Occam's Razor)

And by virtue of the details that the OP used the kid's account at the OP's house and the kid has access to his own account at Grandma's house pretty much clinches it.
If the OP confirms that the save file was on the Cloud drive and not the local xbox (and that's something you choose everytime the game loads), then that's the final nail in the coffin.
The kid went to grandma's, loaded MC from his account (that likely bought the game), and then loaded his save from the cloud (where it's been), and made the changes and saved his game.
I had forgotten about host privileges triggering that message. Might not have even been creative, just host privs triggered on accidentally and then saved unknowingly.

someone likely planted them there in creative mode for there to be "ores galore"
You know what? I just remembered some kid that was playing had said he was duplicating iron (somehow) maybe he stacked them afterward? Still no idea about the mines though unless somewhere along the line they dug back up and sealed it with sand or something.. I am beginning to think clearly. My son doesnt have xbox live pw.. he has a whole other acct at grandma's and therefore the cloud thing is out of the question...... But I am also sure that the creative mode thing was from host priveledges.. because it only happened after I activated those.. and to be honest, cheating is very easy with them on.... I think I got it all figured out pretty much. And thats a bummer about not being able to share the level.. Its very intricate (glass houses under water with connected mines, a sky bridge, and interconnected island bridges.. etc. Oh and I giant mansion that is pretty intricately decorated. As well as floating sculptures in the sky and a huge ship a kid from Australia actually mastered and I saved for him. (mine looked so un ship like lol) I also had set up a fishing game and cobblestone maker. Oh well. I can invite him when he wants to see it again I suppose.

It was all me.
