What do you think about The Xbox edition?
Do you think that it needs a lot of improving? or just a little, or not at all?
I personally think it needs a lot more improving. it needs more content and maybe some exclusive content. I also think it needs mod support. What do you guys think?
(sorry this is my first post in a while)
I think the game is complete as it is and doesn't specifically 'require' anything further, but at the same time, I do look forward to new content coming out in future TU's. But, if 4J decided to never put out another update, I would still be content with my $20 purchase as it is.
MOD support will NOT be coming to the XBox360 version, and unlikely will be allowed on any Console version. For the XBox in particular, this is largely due to the MicroSoft Terms of Service agreement with 4J Studios that they exclusively produce the content for Minecraft and agree to make it so there is no user made content for this platform. I don't see that they are likely to change that philosophy for other console versions either. So there is no point in even discussing Mod support on the 360 any further.
Exclusive content would be nice, but I think that most of the community is more looking forward to getting more of what already exists on the PC/Java version before 4J decides to go their own way and develop much more exclusive content. The exclusive content that already exists in the console version is virtually available via MODs for the PC/Java version (such as the XB360 crafting interface).
I'm not sure what you mean by "improving". It sounds like you're hung up on the "old" version, completely forgetting that there will be a "new" version shortly for the current consoles (that just came out), and that they will have "a lot" of improvements.
Personally, I don't see 4J knocking themselves out on the "old" version anymore- maybe one more TU. I see them putting their energy on the "new", more capable one.... and getting sales from the new version instead of working for free on the old one. I'd also like to see some of the PC features added, and some exclusive content. Who knows- that 'exclusive content' may be better than what the PC has!
I'm relatively happy with the game the way it is, the only reason people would think that it needs improving or additional items should be added is because it always being compared to PC version but sue to the fact it's a console game I think it's great.
We don't need much more (though spawners and Command Blocks wouldn't hurt). We have plenty of things already and I wouldn't really care if nothing else was added.
I enjoy the pure vanillaness of the world I see (for the most of it). And no mods...ever.
ETA: I agree with Greg, there is really no point in even suggesting mod support on the 360. It just isn't going to happen... and I'm actually quite happy about that as well.
The Minecraft community already has a good platform already to cut their teeth on writing mods (and effectively rewriting the game to suit themselves)... and that platform is the PC. They should just leave the Xbox 360 version well enough alone.
I love the xbox version, but then I have never played any other. Limitations have never bothered me either, they just force me to think in a more creative way. I think if it became to complex it would change the nature of the game. I'm also more than happy with all the stuff they have added that I never expected to get, and at no extra charge. Looking forward the the xbox one version, though it will be a while before I get the console.
Best $20 I've ever spent on a game. New or used, any platform.
I've poured more time into this game, and gotten more enjoyment out of it that many of the games I spend 3x as much money on.
If updates stopped, I'd be disappointed, but I've gotten my 20 bucks worth. When its time to move on to a new HTPC or console, it'll be a tough decision. That in and of itself is a testament to the fantastic job 4J has done with this port.
I love all of the new-fangled stuff that comes out on PC, but I'm so spoiled by the UI that 4J has created for the console edition that I don't want to leave it behind. Its not the crafting recipies - I know most of those already. I simply prefer the console controller over a keyboard / mouse combo.
I really enjoy the console version, but I'd like to see Hoppers and Horses added, maybe even carrots. Who wouldn't want to ride a pig and be able to control it?
I would like to see improvements made to reduce the lag created by redstone (multiplayer). Other updates that would (will) be nice in no particular order: anvils, enchantment books, additional blocks, villager trading, witches and wither skeletons.
There are lots of things I look forward to on console version, but if I had to pick one thing it would be the 'infinite' map. It will be a while before I get Xbox One, but when I do, MC will be my first purchase and I hope it has that, or at least larger scale maps.

I personally like the xbox 360 version how it is but there are plenty of things that I dislike, such as on the last three worlds that I have made have been dominated by jungle biomes, my current world is 75% jungle! it just annoys me! but besides that I would love to see zombies in armor, and enchanted weapons and Armor, for zombies and skeletons Maybe even zombie pigmen.
I think the Xbox version is great. is there room for improvement? of course and I hope they continue to improve. The split screen makes this game well worth it on the console. I don't mind the limitations but hope some of those limitations disappear on the xbox1 . I do hope they continue to update and improve the game because it keeps people playing. The more people playing, the more people of talking and the more people buying.
face palm why does everyone think mc 360 needs to be like the pc version right now mc360 is the same as the pc was 2 years ago i think its fine the way it is and for 20 bucks i am really happy

If the PC version had 360 style crafting, now that I have controller support for MC-PC worked out, I'd be strongly tempted to switch.
But the 360 crafting is a serious feature and game-play enhancement that trumps the newer PC version features.
