So I was fighting the ender dragon with my sister, and we defeated it. After the battle I collected the egg ( I was the second player) and when I returned I respawned and my egg was gone nothing in my inventory but a map. Post if you think you know what happened.

Yes, I know how to collect the ender egg. I did using the torch method, and when I hopped in the portal playing second player on a split screen the game reset my inventory.
And to answer Geneo it sent me back to the respawn (natural spawn).
Now a little more info- define: "when I returned I respawned"
