I have finally slain the lord of the End, Ender Dragon. Everythings done, my great quest complete. Time to do my homework now. So i thought, until i notice an obsidian egg laying ontop of the exit portal spire. I try to mine it, but it teleports away from me. I try again, to the same result. I try building a tight room around myself and the egg, but it teleports through the wall. I use my precious silk touch diamond pickaxe, but still the egg warps away. Anyone know how to mine this thing? An egg would make a great souvineir of my painful time in my favourite dimension.

Born from the Void, but here to fight for the light.
use a piston beside it.It will push the egg and it will drop like if you drop somthing out of your invintoryif you hit it with ANYTHING it will teleport if you hit it to many times it will just dissapear
Dig under the egg, so that it sits on a single block. Put a torch under it and break the block, egg will fall and you can pick egg up. This worked last I was on, which was a few weeks ago.

Has properties like that of gravel or sand, one of the few things affected by gravity.
I do how DragonoftheForge describes... dig down leaving one block untouched right under th egg with an empty block beneath that. Place a torch there and then break the block the egg is sitting on. The egg will fall and drop as an item that you can pick up. After that, it will behave as a normal blockl that is, you can then place it and mine it again whenever or put it in an item frame for display.
