Hey minecrafters, I was wondering if you guys think it would be likely to see our DLC transfer over to the xbox one. I plan on buying some skins and texture packs this Saturday. The only problem is xbox one minecraft is probably coming out early 2014 and I'm planning on switching over. You think there is a point in buying them now? Or is there a possibility that 4j and Microsoft will be making us repurchase the DLC to scrounge off a couple dollars off us? Thoughts?
A good, $2 question. I haven't heard if 360 and One DLC will be compatible.
Guess it depends on how important $2 spread out over several months is to you.
$500 for a One.
$20 to buy MC again (yes, you'll have to buy it again).
A few bucks to (maybe) buy skins or TP's again is the least of your problems.
Yes most likely. Since PS3 version of minecraft will have almost all the tp's/skinpacks. They just have to change some of the coding to make if work for the next gen. I expect it to transfer over to the next console
It is extremely unlikely that DLC would transfer over.
It's extremely cheap DLC, which to most people doesn't matter. They'll blow having to buy i again out of proportion. Like it's the end of the world or something. If we don't have to buy it again, woo hoo. If we do, I won't think twice about buying it again.
It is possible, since you are porting over your XBLA from the 360 to the XB1, and purchases are tied to your XBLA, and even though the games are intrinsically different, the skin packs and the texture packs are not.... the mash up packs may be a different story if the world size may be intrinsically different on the next gen consoles.
I think we will have to purchase the DLC again which is a bit of a pain but I don't mind considering it's going to be a whole new experience anyway, the only thing I am a bit annoyed about is all the effort I've put into my 360 maps which I'm still unsure will be able to be transferred over.
If it's a concern for you, why not hold off buying the DLC until you know. Is there some sort of pressing reason why you need to buy the current DLC right now?

Man Mojang is starting to turn into Microsoft.. Everything's a cash grab for them, but there's nothing to show for it.
and i believe the dlc would need to be re coded just as the game has for the xboxone so it wouldn't be the case of 'just' transferring it over from the xbox
I doubt it... the DLC is just data files, mostly graphic files. There shouldn't be any need to redo them for different consoles since it doesn't contain any executable/application files.... with the exception of the Mash-Up Pack New World Generators... Those might have to be modified to adapt to console type

Just because the DLC may not transfer, doesn't necessarily equate to a cash grab. They could, for example, give people who bought Xbox 360 DLC credits toward obtaining Xbox One DLC. Best I think to just wait to see.
DLC and maps would be great to be transferred. I would be happy. I also am working on a re-creation of the map Sovereign from CoD Ghosts on the 360. Hope it gets transferred

"They" probably don't know themselves right now.
If we do, not a big deal.
If we don't, lucky us!

I wouldn't count on it though.
