So are we going to have to RE-BUY Minecraft on Xbox One arcade? If so, I'm going to be very angry because they have done nothing but screw us over with this money scheme.
So we not only have to pay for textures, mash-up packs, and character skins that should be FREE but we have to RE BUY the game AGAIN? We're paying ANOTHER 20 dollars for a game that still doesn't allow map downloads, mods, or custom content at all. What is the incentive? Are they seriously expecting people to buy it again when they could just spend the same amount to get the PC version and get everything free?
I could understand the first time when we didn't know very much, but we know the game plan now...
You should get that middle finger ready because yes, you have to buy it again.
It isn't the same game. Just because you bought it on the Xbox 360 doesn't mean you are deserving of the Xbox One Edition for free. They're two separate games.
Nothing in Microsoft's history as a game company suggests anything other than you will have to buy the game again on Xbox One. If that is unacceptable to you then just don't buy it. Video games are a hobby, not a necessity.

It's all just a huge middle finger.
You're comparing an open platform to a closed one. Everything that is free on the PC is created by the fan base. Mojang gave people permission to modify THEIR (as in Mojang's) code so that the fan base can create mods.
Microsoft does not want people who is not licensed by them messing with the system. They don't want to take the chance that people will backdoor them and people will end up with personal data stolen, or system failures due to what people may or may not do.
Because Microsoft does not allow 3rd party modification, you now have to look at who can do them. Who is allowed to create textures, skins, "mash-up" packs? 4J Studios.
You haven't repurchased the game for anything. You didn't buy a Minecraft port from the PC. Minecraft Xbox360 Edition. You bought a different version of the game. You don't get the Mobile version for free.
Now I can't say anything about 360 to One since there is no information, and everything is just blind guesses, but even if you did have to buy the game for the One, I don't see the big deal. Let's remember...Microsoft and Sony consoles are not backwards compatible! How can you play a 360 game that isn't' compatible with your new system?
If you're frustrated with how consoles work, and you try to justify it when saying to buy the PC version instead, then why not? The console version is not going to ever be the PC version. We aren't ever going to have worlds that match the size of the PC. We will never have servers that allow hundreds of people to be on it at the same time.
I don't even know how this line of thought makes sense to the OP.
When Minecraft was first written, was it instantly ready to work on all platforms or did the Dev's have to put additional work into making it work on the various platforms? I think (or at least hope) we all know the answer to that.
All of that extra work should be compensated for.
Since the PC version seems like the clear better deal to you, why don't you just stick with that? I am perfectly happy with my XBox 360 MC and paying for the DLC as it comes out. I also plan on eventually buying an XBox One JUST FOR MINECRAFT and I will happily pay for that version of the game (and most, if not all of the DLC that will come out for it)
If you think that re buying it is bad i don't think you have put any thought in this.Call of duty keeps making the same run down game and everyone buys it, for 4 times the price!
Ah yes, the ole "Everything should be free for me, and everybody should work for free for me!" thinking. There were dozens of posts like this when the xbox version was first introduced.
Sorry, but as a lot of us have already found out, in the Real World there is a "huge middle finger".... and it's pointing at us.

Indeed.
I am appalled at how people don't observe existing patterns and know the answer is "not free" Every different platform for MC has a separate price as it is not a shared license. Pretty much every game is like that.
Free mods on the PC are free because they are made by fans and distributed by fans. Consoles and mobile devices don't generally support mods, so of course, any add-ons to those games are NOT free.
Duh!
to top it all off, it's not like we're talking about a $60 game. The next platform release of MC will probably cost $20. Which is about how much you'll spend to take a date to a 2 hour movie.
MC's $20 price tag supplies quite a bit more entertainment than 2 hours.
So having to "re-buy" for another platform (which nobody is FORCING anybody to do) isn't really that bad when viewed with the other ways we waste money for entertainment.

Not entirely true since this is a DRM title, it really wouldn't be hard for 'the same company' in this case Microsoft, to allow for transference of the license from the 360 to the one, allowing the title to be downloaded for free providing you have the 360 version. So is it possible for them to do so, hell yes and probably not hard for them to do so either. Will they is an entirely different question to which we all know the answer to this.

Not sure when the last time you went to the movies and what not, however last time i was there spent OVER 60$, 2 tickets, snacks and drinks, and your into that range pretty quick.

Honestly I can see where the OP is coming from. Seriously with this generation of consoles (360 generation), we as consumers have seen our wallets take a hit pretty damn hard. We have seen game content that is on disc locked and that we have to pay to unlock, we have seen content that could have been on disc and that was critical to the game cost, we have seen an explosion of DLC some short and overpriced, some decent and all of the in between.
I feel as I'm sure many others do that game companies are beginning to take advantage of consumers, I don't doubt that one day Call of duty comes out and you have to pay for each weapon that you want to use, and they will give you additional armor for more $, and faster speeds for more $, and so on.
Anyhow we are all entitled to our opinions, and the OP shouldn't be oppressed because he feels that he deserves to have title rights carried over to the next gen console. If enough people were to complain you just never know what will happen, The Xbox one has already seen some heavy changes made to it because many complained about things they didn't like.

You're not wrong.
My beef is that we get this question every week by people who seem totally clueless and extend their rationale to things that aren't applicable or aren't going to happen (like free DLC/mods like the PC version).
The answer is pretty self evident for almost all cases. Yes. You will have to spend more money.
It's one thing to not want to spend more money on the new title.
it's another thing to be ignorant on the facts and then launch into the same old tirade in the same post.
I think it's funny that some of you are griping about buying a $20 game, but you don't have a problem shelling out 400-500 dollars for a console to play them on.
If you can understand having to buy a console, why can't you understand having to buy a game to play on it?

Probably because after buying the new console they don't have any money left over to buy any games, lol.
Edit: I do have a comment. Your comparing a PC with a Microsoft copyright-nazied console. Does anyone here see what he's done wrong. This is the prime reason I enjoy PC games more than ANY console games although there are some exceptions.

Ah, the age old debate PC or console. There are pros and cons to each, the PC and the console. The PC gamer will spend ALOT more in money keeping his machine upto date for 5 to 10 years, where the average console user only spends a quarter of what the first PC runs. The average PC gamer also needs to worry about virus, add ware. He needs to keep his drivers up to date, has to worry each time he goes in picks up a game if its compatible with his hardware, and if he has the desired specs to run it. There is a 95% chance over the console gamer that when the PC player plays online that he will run into someone who is modded or running some type of trainer.
I'm certainly not bashing the PC gamer but as I said its not all peachy for PC gamers.
You should get that middle finger ready because yes, you have to buy it again.

Uhh considering I've bought almost all skin packs, all texture packs, and bought the game itself.. I've put a lot of money into that game.. at the very least I would like a discount.
Money schemes like that don't go over well with me, especially considering their staff rate is so low they have "More awards than staff", they are probably richer than even they would want to be.
If I have to pay for the game, then all the other stuff I put into the game better be free because I've probably put in 40-50 dollars into minecraft.. Otherwise I'm quitting Minecraft.

Back on topic. You have two options, you can buy the new Minecraft for the Xbox one like I will or you can continue playing Minecraft on PC and 360.
Sorry, but as a lot of us have already found out, in the Real World there is a "huge middle finger".... and it's pointing at us.
OT: If you read before you bought the game "No refunds". So when you buy it you buy it and money's gone.
Indeed.
