Am I the only one around the Xbox 360 forum who is satisfied with all the updates? Sure a few bugs but overall I'm very satisfied with all the new stuff that's been added.
I am very satisfied with all the updates to the Xbox 360 edition so far.
What I'm saying is that it's unrealistic to expect a piece of hardware with 512 MB of RAM to hold all the additions that have been put on the PC in this year and a half since the Xbox Edition was released. THE PC Edition was at 1.2 when the Xbox Edition was released, so 4J could probably anticipate optimizing the game to than level, I said long ago that we were practically guaranteed of eventually getting almost everything in the game up to PC version 1.2.3.
However, more than a year ago, they could not possibly anticipate optimizing that same game to the current level and beyond. The PC Edition now requires 2 GB of RAM to run effectively. WITHOUT completely starting from scratch and rewriting/reoptimizing everything they've done so far, 4J are just not going to be able to stuff all that additional stuff onto a system that only has 512 MB of RAM. Conversely, the Xbox One and PS4 can continue to handle the PC-related additions without a major rewrite of the game; so it is reasonable to expect that over a period of time, 4J's focus will shift towards adding more and more to the Xbox One and PS4 Editions and not adding absolutely the same of everything to the Xbox 360 and PS3 editions. I don't think the updates will completely stop until the Xbox just can't handle any more or Microsoft stops supporting entirely (whichever comes first); but I do think they will get sizably smaller than the Xbox One and PS4 updates.
There is a reasonable marketing purpose to continuing to make small updates to the Xbox 360 and PS4 Editions (as long as one doesn't have to put in a whole lot of extra effort into doing those updates). If people playing on the 360 and PS3 get a "taste" of various new Xbox One and PS4, they may be inclined to upgrade... and that would put more money in Microsoft's and Mojang's and 4J's pockets. If they just stop updating the Xbox 360 version entirely, the lose the opportunity to titilate the people on those 1st gen consoles into buying 2nd gen ones.
