its simple... nothing. just like the new things that have been added. "what the hell is this guy talking about?" im talking about our creativity. its not that we can create new things but we are limited to what we truley want. now im not blaming 4J . they are great and i respect them for staying active with the community. however, when xbox one and ps4 come out i want them to give us a reason why we cant have servers. and i want to know why we cant get more requested things in the updates, after all this is not the same as the pc. i dont want you guys to think im crying. its just a thought.
Just added a new texture pack, it's nice. I'm not a big builder but they could add more to make the game more interesting, the texture packs do add a different feel for sure, but I really hope they keep it coming with new in game items and things like that.
I really hope they keep updating it, they have made so much money, it's coming out for the newer consoles and I am one of those who will not be buying the Xbone or PS4, I have the pc version but spend way more time on the Xbox version. I mostly always play on hard, and am a top player on the leaderboards.
I just got it for my son so we have two Minecraft Xbox 360 editions in the same house, we deserve more stuff and all that, I really hope they don't just forget about us 360 folk and keep giving us stuff, I will not own Xbone for a good year after release.
Sorry, it does sound like you're crying... and you'll probably reject my response because you just won't like it.
1. The Xbox version, for the most part, has been progressing along the same lines as the PC. It just started out about a year behind the PC and it's taking about the same amount of time to add in the stuff in the new language as it did on PC.
2. 4J have brought some of the popular items forward; but they obviously can't respond to all the requests since all the requests can be summed up in one word: Everything. That is, everything on the PC has been requested on these forums for the Xbox multiple times.
So, my prediction is: They'll just keep updating along the same lines as the PC and we'll stay about a year behind the PC until the Xbox 360 won't hold any more and they'll have to stop updating it. The Xbox One and PS4 will probably update at the same pace as the Xbox 360; but continue to be updated after the Xbox 360 can no longer handle updates.
Also, the task of creating texture packs, skin packs and resource packs rests also with 4J and releasing them probably takes up available "update slots" with Microsoft. On the PC, these items are written by the community and do not take up any of Mojang's time. Also, Mojang does not have to deal with any sort of limitation on the frequency of updates; but 4J does because the release of updates on the Xbox is controlled my Microsoft.
all im saying and most would agree that the game is getting old. the updates and the feel is just not whatt it use to be. now the new packs are cool however i miss when caves were cool to me. all im saying is i wouldnt mind waiting for an update that included alot of new things including exclusive biomes for the three consoles. just a thought. also ... hi geno

Did you ever think that isn't the games fault? Just because you're getting bored of the game doesn't instantly mean it's the games fault.

How about trying to ask 4J nicely (in the suggestions section) for the very newest biomes to be brought forward ahead of schedule without saying or implying that "nothing" is being update (which you clearly implied in your post above). It is unlikely that anything about the Xbox version will "feel" as new or fresh as the same thing being added on the PC did a year ago. People also say they wouldn't mind waiting longer for an update... until they start complaining about the updates not coming fast enough. After more than a year on this site, it's that particular pattern of posts that is really getting old, IMO.

you are implying that i am saying nothing is being updated. clearly i am saying is that 4j should stop trying to catch up with pc and add its own unique things. and as for people willing to wait for an update i feel they all are. but, they would like to still here from 4j in the process before a week of launch. btw just a thought
CLEARLY i am saying is that 4j should stop trying to catch up with pc and add its own unique things.
I put caps on clearly, because i would like you to refer to you original post. It is not clear at all what you were saying, except you want more content.
We are pretty much on schedule. 4J is probably working their butts off with updates, TPs, and adding Minecraft to four consoles. Yes xbox 360 is limited, yes it sucks, but I got over it. enjoy the beautiful jungles, adorable kittens, iron golems, and mini villagers/squidwards. There are more features that we HAVE than we don't.

(There is a very familiar and predictable progression of your "just a thoughts." I'm getting a strong sense of deja vu and, as I said, it's this pattern of posts that is getting old around here... not the game itself.)
As has been mentioned several times on the forums in the past months... 4J probably don't give out even an approximate date of release more than a week before launch because they probably don't know a reasonable approximate date until after Microsoft accepts the update into their schedule for certification testing. The process probably goes... As the update nears completion, 4J probably applies to Microsoft for a slot but then they might wait for weeks before Microsoft confirms that they have an opening in their testing schedule... afterall Minecraft isn't the only game on the Xbox 360 and several games are also being tested (I'm sure) by Microsoft for the Xbox One. As a result, I could reasonably see testing slots being rather difficult to obtain.
Then, 4J immediately informs us when they get a slot for certifcation testing and then we have an estimated time of 10 to 14 business days (i.e. up to TWO weeks before the update is actually released by Microsoft). If you want more notification, perhaps you should buy Microsoft so you can take over control of their scheduling.

If 4J stopped trying to catch up to the PC, the backlash from players would be enormous. Most people who play the Xbox 360 Edition have watched, followed, and are fairly knowledgeable of the PC version. So, they expect the Xbox 360 Edition to be similar, the same, or at least working towards that eventually. A lot of the people who are playing the game on the console want it to be the PC version. Even though that isn't possible, 4J have to try as hard as they can to appease them or have a lot of angry disappointed people.
I really hope people realise the XBLA version is going to stop being developed for once the XB1 and PS4 versions are released, it's inevitable. They aren't going to carry on updating this version indefinitely.
No, they are not going to carry on development beyond a point that the Xbox 360 can handle. On the flip side of that same coin, they shouldn't hold back the XB1 and PS4 editions to handle only what the Xbox 360 can. However, they have already said that they do intend to update the Xbox 360 version alongside the XB1 and PS3 and PS4 and Vita versions for at least a little while yet and they have committed to adding some things (e.g. horses) in future updates. To me, that says that they don't intend to drop updating the Xbox 360 the day the XB1 is released. Where the updates will end is probably when the Xbox 360 is simply no longer handling the CPU demands of the game. If they play their cards well, they will stop updating the Xbox 360 BEFORE we all download an update that makes so much demand on these old CPUs that the game winds up being completely unplayable. Remember, once one updates on the 360, there is no going back to the previous version UNLESS 4J, at some point along the way, has the forethought to put that sort of option in.
Eventually the install base for the next-gens will become large enough, sales for their MC will increase enough, and 360 sales will decline enough, that it won't be worth it to update the 360 anymore. So I agree with MrSpam.
But in a way I also agree with what Paradox is saying. Yes, Mustache is correct about the backlash, but only because people are obsessed for now with wanting and expecting the console and PC versions to be the same. They're upset that the 360 isn't like the PC, and they're hoping that the next-gen versions will be. The PC update rate has spoiled them rotten and they're upset that the 360 isn't updating as fast. (Totally unrealistic, but that's what they're thinking).
To me, there's some fatal flaws in this thinking.
The PC version has 3 major problems: 1) It still has to use java, and 2) it's hampered by having to stick to the 'minimum system requirements' (not everyone has a 'gaming PC').
The new consoles don't have these limitations. The sky's the limit.
The final problem is that for some reason, and I can't figure out why, but people think the PC version is the 'best' MC version. That may be true at this point in time, but it's only the first version, and believe it or not MC can be improved on (and I don't mean adding silly little 'pacifier' additions like a new mob). For instance, reviewers thought, at the time, that Civilization and Battlefield were the best games ever…. until Civ2 and BF2 came out. Now we're up to Civ5 and BF4 and those are the new 'best games ever'. (Ok, so those aren't the best examples, but you get my point).
Me, I don't want the console versions to be like the PC. (Why? Been there already.) I want them to go their own way. I want to see a knock-your-socks-off MC2! I want the console versions of MC to be better than the PC(!) with improved gameplay, graphics, animation, heck everything. Then we won't have to worry about any 'backlash' (let the PC people be jealous for a change).
Quit being a copy-cat, 4J. Go for it!

There is, however, another thing to consider... and that is Mojang's wishes regarding how much difference they want to allow between the PC and the console games. I keep going back to a comment they made at Minecon 2012 during the panel discussion. They stated clearly that they wanted to keep their Minecraft identifiable as "their" game (keep their "stamp" on it is, I believe, the way they put it). That tells me that they have some reluctance to just letting 4J go their own way with it; and as long as Mojang wants it to be like the PC version, it will continue to basically follow in the path of the PC version. They are the creators of the game and 4J are just contract porters in this business "partnership" with Mojang and Microsoft; and, as a result, Mojang are completely in the driver's seat on what they will allow and not allow to become different with the various console versions.
Of course, their opinion on that could change as sales of the more limited 1st-gen console versions inevitably decline over time.
Eventually the install base for the next-gens will become large enough, sales for their MC will increase enough, and 360 sales will decline enough, that it won't be worth it to update the 360 anymore.
Yes, yes and yes. It will happen although 4J studios say that they will keep updating.

That's why I am glad I never saw the PC version or actually heard of Minecraft until it came out on the 360. Basically everything is new to me and keeps the game fresh.

They also said it'd have a capture the flag mode in at launch and whats happened to that?!? Numerous things they said they'd add before the game launched haven't materialized. I honestly wouldn't hold your breath for the 360 version being updated once the new consoles are out. Im predicting one more update before Christmas, one in the first quarter on 2014, and that'l be your lot. Guess we'll wait and see.
Waiting to see makes the most sense to me. Since the Xbox One will be out in November, then it won't take too long to see that my assessment that they "don't intend to drop updating the Xbox 360 the day the XB1 is released" is a perfectly reasonable one... since even you are, evidentally, not actually predicting that the updates will suddenly stop in November 2013... and that is ALL I actually said above.
Personally, I think there will be at least 2 more feature-adding updates (4 with bug fix updates). These may not be as intensive as previous updates, but rather add smaller bits and pieces (like horses, which are already promised) from the updates that will be needed anyways to bring the PS4 and Xbox One up to speed. In other words, they aren't going to spend as much time optimizing the updates specifically for the Xbox 360, but rather give us small bits of what they are doing anyway to update the 2nd gen consoles. They probably view this like little tidbits and enticements to get people who don't leap right at the start to eventually consider buying a next gen console.
As I said, my dilemma is now whether I really want to update any further at all. The game is very playable right now and I do think that if they do keep updating the Xbox 360 version indefinitely without really carefully considering the limitations of the hardware, we might eventually download an update that will truly render the Xbox 360 version unplayable (as opposed to just a little more lag)... and, so far at least, we can undo a single update and revert to the immediately previous version. Of course, the real downside of not continuing to update is that it eliminates any form of online play possibilities down the road.
Am I the only one around the Xbox 360 forum who is satisfied with all the updates? Sure a few bugs but overall I'm very satisfied with all the new stuff that's been added.
