I've been playing a self imposed Hardcore mode(keeping hunger low to stop regen) and using potions more than I normally would. I've noticed potion of healing II is actually healing 6 hearts. My understanding, from wiki, is it's only supposed to heal 4. Is this something that's recently changed or has it always been this way?.

For the record...Awkward+Glistering Melon+Glowstone.

I've always thought it was 6 hearts and that has been pretty much what I've experienced. I've never looked into it or questioned it until your post. Checking the Wiki it does indeed say 4 hearts, but it notes +2 per tier. The wording isn't clear, meaning it doesn't elaborate. So I'm assuming this simply means for every tier(Potion of healing I vs healing II) it adds 2 hearts to the amount healed.. Potion of Healing II - 6 total... Potion of Healing III - 8.. Healing IV - 10.

And yes I know that III and IV aren't brewable, but if you read the first section of Potions ( http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Potions ) it describes the tiers.

Perhaps someone else can add to this.. this is something I've never really looked into..

Potions of Healing changed for the PC, off of which the wiki is based.
They used to do 3/6, but since the "UHC update," they do 2/4 instead.
Ours are "outdated" potions, if you will.

On the computer they "nerfed", or reduced the strength of the healing potion so it only heals 4 hearts. But the xbox version has not added that in yet so we have the stronger version which heals 6 hearts.

Ahh. OK. Thanks for clearing that up. I read the brewing article and history notes but it makes no mention of a change. It'd be nice if there were more notations, for xbox. I heard somewhere, it's a pretty popular game.
