Ive learned that the biomes in old worlds may have changed with the update, but what is with the weird patches of different color grass everywhere? Built a beautiful castle on a hill overlooking a farming community, all in survival. Was all on bright, vibrant green. Now most of it is an ugly brown green, like the swamps. However, there are small patches (10 by 10ish) of bright green dotting the ground as well. This is all over my world now. Unfortunately this just makes it uglier by drawing a lot of attention to the darker shades.
I put a lot of time into this world so that my nieces and nephews could enjoy it. Is there any chance these patches of color are a bug, or that we may be able to alter the shade of grass at some point?
Unfortunately, I agree with Bloody Phoenix. You're probably stuck with it for the foreseeable future.
What I'm doing in one of my old worlds were most of my built up area became desert is to replace the oak trees with spruce and birch since the leaves don't change color regardless of biome. I am also covering the worst hit areas of blotchy grass with leaf hedges and strategic placement of various walkways and other sundry items (park benches, market kiosks, etc.). I have even contemplated using the leaves as a substitute for the grass blocks themselves in some areas; but haven't actually found that necessary. It is a fair bit of work, but I am slowly starting to feel good about how that world looks again overall. Even just changing out the oak trees made a big difference.

The reason for the Grass change is because, While it's not Drastically changing your game, the Biomes generate differently than before.
On PC you are able to press F3 and see the type of biome, if you were able to do so on Console, it would show you that the biome has changed from what it was before the update. Thus the different colored grass.
The game is now currently reading it as either a desert Biome, Swamp Biome or Tiga Biome if there is a body of water nearby the water should also look different, If its a tiga Biome now, there will be Ice, if its a swamp it will look Green, if its a Desert biome it will look normal, but on the bright side.. if its a desert biome it will probably never rain over that area.
Thank you for the responses. That's a good idea to replace the patches with leaves. It wont make the ugly dull green go away but it will help. Thanks again guys.
Can you collect the colour grass blocks you want using the Slik Touch enchantment?
If you can you may be able to replace the ones you dont like with the ones you do.

Grass blocks' grass is biome specific for the most part, so you wouldn't be able to do that. What sounds like is a biome shift occurred, which has happened a few times over the course of this year. Nothing really you can do about it, except for the suggestions made by the others.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

Unfortunately, it just doesn't work that way. It really doesn't matter what shade of green the grass block is when you collect it, it will always turn to the shade of green based on the biome in which you place it again.

Those patches of bright green are, by definition, different biomes. Ergo, the OP is seeing @10x10ish biomes in his world.
I thought this wasn't supposed to happen? I know the system has code in it the attempts to blend the biome boundaries (so you don't get an ugly, abrupt color shift), but that doesn't seem to be what's happening here. Is this a bug? Is the biome generation getting glitched by these successive shifts?

old thread but to comment on this. Iv had ALOT of small biomes through out time. iv had spots in the middle a desert that had grass and would rain. The unique one I have found was a 6x6 spot in the middle of a river. The river cut through a desert. This 6x6 spot would rain where as the desert would not. crazy

Blending doesn't even happen in newly generated worlds. the TU13 generated world that I'm currently playing in has very clearly defined lines and boundaries of Jungle to Desert, and I can see the natural line of sand to grass blocks. Even the weather follows that hard line, I can step one block to the left and be in torrential rains, and step one block to the right and be in beautiful sunshine again.
...although I have imported a lot of dirt blocks, grass, and trees into my desert community... still working on my house... it's a fairly sizable project... but I finally got the roof mostly done... still have to fill int he interior and decorate the roof access garden somewhat.

I doubt editing biomes will ever occur.
(ohey, 3,000th post.)
Stay fluffy~

I see you don't like variety? What a shame…..
Pc is still better than Xbox. If you don't like the grass, either get PC version or create a new world.
Happy building.
