I am a 'fan' of the game, bought it on both PC and XBOX360. I was very excited to see that you would be able to download texture packs. Then I realized you have to pay for them. I was fine with paying for and downloading different skins, but why texture packs? Why do we need to pay to download something that is free on the PC? It is easier to play with my friends and I don't have to deal with all of the random that they added into the full release of the PC version. Why don't they charge us to download mods and texture packs for the PC? I guess I am really here to make a deal, seems pretty good: Make the texture packs you make available free, or I can pirate it, and distribute it to my friends (it's not hard). So whad'ya say? Stop sucking money out of these gullible children and let me try and enjoy the game?
The PC is customizable, while the Xbox you can't get into without hacking. They won't just give you it. If it wasn't payed why would they work to add it? Just get the trial. :/

Getting the trial would be a waste of space, sense you can't save your world. And they COULD get it to us (XBOX community) if they enjoy their fans. They DO have the money for it. . . Why can't they just set up a server somewhere that XBOX players can connect to (through Xbox live, obviously) and download what mods/texture packs they've got to offer.
If I'm correct, texture packs cost less than skin packs. Before, I had 70 MS points, and it converted it to $1.50. So, 4J Studios were very generous for making texture packs cheap.
Minecraft PC is set up more like an open-source API than just a video game. However, Microsoft's policies do not allow the release of programs on the XBox that have not been written by authorized companies. As a result, community members cannot write addons for the Xbox Edition of the game for nothing the way they can on the PC and then "market" these add-ons on websites that get paid from pop-up advertisements and such. 4J Studios still has to pay its programmers, so they charge a nominal amount for the texture packs.
Actually we don't have to pay for it. You can choose to pay for it and use it on the xbox. Or you can use it on the PC for free. Or you can just not use it at all. No one is forcing you to pay for it. You do actually have a choice.
Because some people provided their labor to make that texture pack in exchange for money which they then exchange for other goods and services. It's a simple economic principal.
@OP you could go make a $1 donation to 4J Studios for every texture pack that is bought thereby offsetting the cost and allowing them to give them away. Sort of like buying everyone in your platoon a drink.

Because 4j had to work to make texture packs allowable on a very closed system that would otherwise not allow it, while all the time dealing with people harassing them to make said texture packs. And you think letting them have a dollar for their troubles is too much because on a different, much less restricted system the makers allow you to download them for free? This, coupled with the fact that you're threatening to pirate the texture pack if they don't make it free, tells me that you have no respect for work that someone else has done.
$1 isn't that much anyway; work for 8 1/2 minutes at minimum wage and you'll have made enough to pay for the entire, unlimited use of the texture pack.
Look at this, another person trying to compare PC and Xbox 360.
Listen, this is Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition.
NOT, Minecraft: On the xbox!
Two VERY different games.

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
There's an obvious and universal answer: Because the PC has an open environment, and the console's is closed. When you choose whether to game on PCs or consoles, you need to consider all the advantages and disadvantages of each. The price of admission is lower for consoles, but the software costs are generally higher after the hardware is paid for. It's the nature of that particular business model. If you don't like it, you are free to switch to the PC. Little if anything will ever be free on consoles.

because its very easy to get a texture pack on pc. with xbox it is the only way to get texture packs. can you imagine if they sold them on pc. it would take five minutes for 1 person to make it downloadable for free.
I have to admit I don't really agree with the fact you need to pay for texture packs =/ I mean there are bunch of other way cooler texture packs on the PC that you can download for free!

OK, Here's the major difference between Paying for the Skins/Texturepacks on Console Vs. getting them for free on PC.
On PC, the texture packs and Skins are typically user created, even if they are based on other games, it was created by a fan.
On Console, if we want those same styles that are based on other games that 4J doesn't have the rights for, they have to contact the company who owns the rights to said game and get permission to use the character Likenesses and any other materials from the game.
What I would Personally like to see is 4J reaching out to the top Resource pack creators in the PC community and making a deal with them and giving them a percentage of profits for their Texture packs.

The problem with this business model is that the "fans" who create texture packs don't have the rights to use the trademarks and copyrighted artwork of the "other games" any more than 4J has. The makers of the "other games" don't go after the "fans" who create free texture packs because there is this belief that they are not making any money off of them (although they actually are through promotion of the website that brings in advertising). IF 4J were to make a deal with a creator of a Resource Pack who has not properly obtained the rights use that material, they could be sued by the owners of that "other game" just as easily as if they made the pack themselves without first obtaining the rights to it.

Yep, so go buy a PC then.
Of course you should pay for texture packs, like any DLC a game releases. Something else to think about...Xbox version of Minecraft has had how many free updates now? And not just bug fixes either. The company have continued to add to and update the game for console at no extra charge. Out of all the games I have for Xbox, I can confidently say that I have definitely had my moneys worth.
To be honest, I'm not particularly fond of the texture packs and tend not to use them, but I bought them anyway. 69 pence? Why wouldn't you, to at least encourage continued development of a unique game experience that has many imitators but no competitors.

Now that's some convoluted logic.

The rest of us shall just ask your mom for change and call it a so so experience.
