I Don't see why.
Look at the color tone of lapis and then diamond
Diamond = Babyblue
Lapis = Dark blue

Clearly. But coal is a bit lighter and so is iron, so naturally why wouldn't lapis be?

BTW thanks to fortune III I have a chest full of lapis so I usually just ignore it now haha.
