Hello. I'm a brand new member to Minecraft. My son has been a big influence on my playing the game.
Being a noob with Minecraft, I decided to start out slow and build in Creative Mode. But my first build is no simple project...
the U.S.S. Enterprise from Star Trek The Next Generation!!!
and at 1:1 scale, too.
So far the build is going pretty well, but I have heard about colored glowstone, and I was wondering if it exists on the Xbox 360 edition, which is the only version I'm running since I don't have internet at my house. (I'm typing this at the local library)
But I am curious if I can make/use colored glowstone, or if it's only for the PC version.
If you're making the Enterprise D from TNG, it isn't going to fit in the limited worlds of the Xbox 360 Edition. It's bigger than the Xbox 360 worlds when done at 1:1 scale.
The man who did this 3 years ago on the PC before losing it all when his Hard Drive crashed had the measurements. "The Minecraft world uses 1m^3 blocks, 642.5 Meters x 467.0 Meters x 137.5."
Unfortunately, there is only one color of glowstone on the Xbox 360. You can use jack-o-lanterns (back side) and redstone lamps to get a a slightly different colored effect.
Yeah I was thinking the worlds are limited at around 600 x 600 ish for some reason. I remember after posting that it's actually around 860 x 860.
Still, with the limited render distance, you probably wouldn't be able to see a 1/4 of it. Maybe even less.
My ship is the full 42 decks high. Each deck is 4 blocks high (1 for the ceiling, 1 for the floor, and 2 for the walls). Since the ceiling of the decks are also the floor of the deck directly above, I've calculated it to be around 127 blocks high. I'm not too worried about the amount of space in the world (superflat, by the way), but I'm more worried about the height of the world.

I can't comprehend someone doing that much work without ever backing it up.
Update: This video has it much further along:
