Just starting playing a week ago and have a really nice place set up. My friend came over today and we want to play together. However, when he joins he starts FAR away from where I'm set up. He does have a map but I don't have one. How can I get him to where I'm at? He has walked for miles and can't find me.
THANKS!!!!!!!
ps He is playing at my house so it's split screen if it matters.
He had a map but then died and lost it if I remember correctly. Even when he had it we didn't know how to use it. Both new to the game as you can see. Anyways, after a long time we ended up getting together. Thanks for the replies.
ps this game is the most addictive game I've ever played
I'm glad you finally found each other. You can each craft new maps at any time by first crafting a compass (uses 4 iron ingots and 1 redstone dust) and then using the compass as a crafting ingredient for a new map (uses 8 paper and 1 compass). Paper is crafted from sugarcane.
For a map to fill in areas, it needs to be pulled out and looked at, so usually when I'm travelling about in the beginning, I make a point of stopping once and awhile and just glancing at my map and orienting myself to whatever landmarks I see. Since the Xbox worlds are relatively small, you will probably find yourself relying on visual landmarks and even stop carrying a map fairly quickly. As someone else suggested, in a pinch you can always go to an edge or corner of the map to meet up with each other.

If he has not reset his spawn point he will respawn (after dieing) at the original spawn point.
You could both go to an easily identified common point like: a corner of the map, a village in the center of the map in a desert etc.
You could make a map and help guide him.
If you find each other you should exchange maps to update both maps.
If gamer tags are off then people do not appear on the map.
