How long does it take you to make
a potion in a new world.
Me, About 2 days I believe.
Its normally Fire Resistant so I can take on
the Blaze without a problem
I usually have 2 problems. Finding the diamonds, then finding the blaze spawner. I could mould the portal, but that takes forever.
I usually end up getting lost in the bloody nether, and die ten times, then flip over to creative to figure out where to put my portal. I totally cheat. If I use creative to hunt around, I can spend hours before I actually accomplish anything. Oh well. I like making the machines (thanks to youtube
I use potions alot. Health for my xp farms, fire resist in the nether. I've spent hours making a golem farm, and I'm now messing with rail systems. It keeps breaking, or I keep forgetting parts I need across the map, so I'm drinking speed potions a bit more, until the rails are figured out.
I don't care for potions outside of PvP maps, so I make my home and such first.
I really have no time--I'll get a Brewing Stand when I get to my brewing room.
It all depends on how fast I can find the fortress and get a blaze rod. However, getting to the Nether takes about 2-3 minecraft days depending on how quickly I find diamonds.
I also tend to do a lot of other things before bothering about getting potions. It would also vary a lot from seed to seed. For example, sometimes I find diamonds right away the first Minecraft night of diggining and other times I don't even hit iron that first night. I did recently do Etho's first speed challenge (shoot 1 ghast in 30 minutes). Well, I didn't do it in 30 minutes; but I was quite happy with my time of 55 minutes. I do think I maybe could have gotten a blaze much quicker, since the main tie-up in that world was not being able to spot any spiders to get string for a bow. If a blaze had of been my primary objective, I probably would have just entered the nether with only a sword. My portal, as it turned out, did spawn right next to the fortress, so it would not have taken me long at all to find the blaze spawner; whereas, on other seeds, I've had to dig around in the nether for days before even finding the fortress.
ETA: Just adding a link to Etho's Speed Challenges. They are 9 fun, quick objectives someone recently suggested here on another thread. The Shoot One Ghast challenge (which is the one I did) would be similar to getting a brewing stand since it involves getting into the nether as quickly as possible. It is an older challenge, so there was no hunger bar when Etho did it. His goal was to do it in 30 minutes of gameplay, and his actual time, I believe, was 36 minutes. As I said above, mine was much longer at 55 minutes.
Perhaps Apathy's idea could be set up as an actual Speed Challenge for the Xbox?
for me like up said, it varies from world to world that I generate.
I usually take a couple to a few months... My second map that is from TU8, I just finally made a couple stands, mainly because I needed fire resist potions to deal with my lava storage. Basically I make it when I need it, and make the room when I have a design or feel like making one, if not where to place it. I am more concentrated on building other things, namely remodeling villages at first and slowly adding this or that depending on my mood and maybe what I need or want.
To envision what you want is easy, to put it down into blocks can be tricky. Especially now with the upside down stuff, which means for me more time fiddling with the look of the area, buildings, mines, and overall general things.:D Due to that is why it takes me a long time before I get somethings. This includes the nether portal which I just made last month sometime on that very same map. Haven't even got around to my stronghold yet, more or less dug to it...lol

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
well im a week plus in my current world with no brewing stand. Heck no nether portal in my world at all yet. only 3 diamonds. lol. Its all about the giant tree atm
If I actually wanted to blow through really quick, if I was on easy I would do it really fast so maybe a few days? 2-3 at most. It only took me like 3 day son my Jungle Survival on hard.
Really, what takes me time to make potions is just the fact that potions are not my priority. I hardly use them and I haven't really tested them to see how they benefit except for fire resistance.
I like potions and use them but they are not a priority. So it is usually many minecraft days before I take the time. And usually don't make potion stands until I can make the fire resistance potion and set up a nether wart farm.
I only have one world where I've even dabbled into potions, and I was ready to kill the Ender Dragon before I bothered with potions, if that's any indication of how long it took me...I also used that world to make a pretty big build before-hand, so it was probable more than a week before I finished that.
I really have no use for potions. They just waste my time and energy.

This.
When I said 2 days, I meant 2 real life days.
I need to build my house and stuff before I do any
type of potion work
