Does the chunkbase finder work with TU12? I found 2 chunks side by side, so I hollowed them out with a 3 tall space starting at layer 12, and lit it up (not too many torches on the ground), and lit up most all the caves around it, and around the space I wait 25 blocks away from the chunk, yet the only thing that I've found it it was one archer that made its way through the caves somewhere.
use jack o' lanterns, glowstone, or redstone lamps in the floor or ceiling. torches take up spawning space, or seem like it in my experience. It works with all versions, as my seed I used from TU8 still spawn slimes. Granted it takes a bit for them to spawn and oddly enough works best during the day.
also it might not be enough just to light up the area within the spawning ground. Caves nearby will need lighting up if you want a more efficient rate. All caves within 128 block radius I believe. also be aware of where other slime chunks spawn, cause likely you are getting slimes spawning in the wrong places even when those are lit up. Those are best to put down slabs or water it down.
They will spawn y40 and below, so keep that in mind.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
You can make sure you have the right chunk by creating a duplicate of your seed as a superflat. Go into creative peaceful and put a fence around the chunks you're using. Then, during the daytime, flip the seed into any other difficulty level, hoever about 30 blocks above your fence and see if any slimes spawn inside the fence. If they do, you know for sure you have an active slime chunk.
Slimes can spawn in a slime chunk right up to layer 40 in any space that's big enough for them, lit or unlit. Since they increased the number of layers slimes can spawn, I'm finding that the difficulty usually is that they are spawning in higher level caves on the same chunk or adjacent chunks rather than in the slime farm. You have to go in an slab or flood those caves to keep slimes from spawning there.

how can I identify what chunk I'm in with any precision?

not sure about lanterns, but I'm pretty sure they don't spawn on glow stone. I might be wrong, but I think that's right.
Anyway, it's been hit and miss for me with spawn rates because i seem to have picked the one area on the map that has literally hundreds of caves around my slime floors. The slime finder did work though.

I'm too drunk to figure out why I quoted that last bit and how to fix it. Good night all
Instead of wandering through the cave in a slime chunk. Just mine that whole chuck out to bedrock. (Or 3 above bedrock) That way, they won't spawn in any little caves that you haven't managed to find. It also gives a tonne of Cobblestone which can be used for other projects.

Your map. It is the second most precise tool in the game.

ah... well then probably not glowstone. I used Jack o' lanterns primarily. I was lucky in the cave department it seems, as there are few caves around; mainly water or lave pool ones. I actually have it in my branch mine, and the slime chunk extends in a 3 chunk chain and 1 more chunk off to the side like an L block from tetris. I didn't extend the farm, but do have a few of my branch mine 1x3 tunnels extending into those extra chunks they spawn in. Torchs seem to cut the spawn, cause at first that is what I used. nothing spawned in the 16x16 area. I replaced with those pumpkin lanterns and i even get the big ones in there with quite a bit of wait time.
unsure of the redstone lanterns myself, but I just know it works or use to work on the pc version. On the xbox I only known first hand that the pumpkin lanterns do work. I don't see why not with the other lanterns, but then again those you would have to have extra to keep them lit. So best choice would be the pumpkins.
At least you got some to spawn, which leads me to think you do have a lot of caves. Well all that I suggested can be utilized to improve the efficiency a bit. Only thing I can say is you could a little at a time do it and check back on the farm to see how well it improves. Having caves around really makes a big difference, since yours amounts little with lots of caves around and mine well... a fair bit. I didn't light up anything in caves around since there really aren't too many that I broke into. Good luck in getting more.
Lots of sounds advice here.. I'd add that digging down to bedrock isn't required. I have a slime farm at y38 and yields more slime than I can use. Surrounding caves do have an impact. Although even if you have only a few lit up, 'some' should still spawn. When the game cycles through chunks making spawn attempts you will still have a good chance to get slimes to spawn. BUT.... You might have caves above or below your farm in the actual chunk where slimes could spawn instead.
One thing to note is that mobs can't spawn on bedrock, having exposed bedrock in your farm will lower the actual spaces you have for slimes to spawn. Anywhere below y40 works.
Also, slime will not spawn if you are within 24 blocks of the farm. Not just sideways, up and down too. A 24 block sphere.

Actually stone. My b**ch pick that I use for digging out projects is Efficiency 4, Unbreaking 3, and silk touch, so I can later use fortune to mine them up if I need quick xp.
Also I'm layering it from layer 12 up to 40, and am working on lighting up the caves. There's just SO MANY.
oh yeah, and how do I do that? Just enter the seed, and then like load the game as super flat?
Create a new world in superflat using the same number string (seed) that displays on the load screen of your original world. This superflat world will have the same layout of slime chunks as your regular world. Then enter the superflat world in creative peaceful mode, dig out your map and fence of the area where your slime farm is situated in your original world. Then, in daytime only, flip this superflat world into creative easy, or creative normal or creative hard (doesn't matter which). The slimes will start spawning all over the place almost instantly because the other hostile mobs can't spawn in daylight. IF you have any that spawn inside your fenced area, you know for sure the area of your slime farm is a valid slime chunk.
While the chunkbase slime finder does work and is completely accurate, sometimes people misread the charts and put their slime farms on the wrong chunks. IF you don't get slimes in your superflat fenced area, then this is most likely what you have done and you should probably then go back to the slime finder and reread the coordinates (before you go to all the trouble of digging our everything from layer 12 to 40). It could save to a lot of time if you've made the common mistake of misreading the coordinates given in the slime finder. Your choice, however. If you want to dig everything out and then figure out that your farm is not on a slime chunk... knock yoursself out.
How many blocks by how many blocks, or,,, how many x y ### is one chunk equal too? It might be a good idea to just divy up the whole seed, just to see where they are comming from
Jack-o-lanterns in the floor, yes. Glowstone, no. Nothing spawns on glowstone.
The tool should tell you exactly where the chunk boundaries are. Clear out 3-high floors below Y=40 within those boundaries.
I see some questionable advice above. You don't have to dig to bedrock. Doing so will not prevent nearby caves from affecting the slime spawn rate. You have to find, and then light up or slab over those caves. This will prevent other hostile mobs from spawning nearby. Less unwanted spawns means more slime-spawning chances.

In a superflat world only the top layer of grass counts (there are no caves and the rest is air), so a chunk is 16 x 16. For the OP's double chunk area, he would just need to fence an area 16 x 32 to confirm whether or not he has read the slimefinder correctly.

That might be a time consuming process.. and cringe worthy. Luckily it's completely unnecessary. A single chunk is 16x16 from bedrock to sky build limit. The chunk base app is formated as a grid. Each square represents a single chunk.
After you entered your seed and made sure to select Xbox. You may want to write down the location of you base.(x,z) Then enter it at the bottom, click go, you'll get a red dot representing your base location and you'll be able to see the slime chunks nearby. Zoom in with your mouse wheel and click on the inside corner of a nearby chunk..(Not too close to your base, remember the 24 block distance from you needed for any mobs to spawn.) Clicking the inside corner will give you the coordinates for the INSIDE corner of the chunk. Do this for all four corners, hollowing out a space 16x16 and 3-4 high. Large slimes are 2.4 blocks tall so they need the space.
I've had a lot success with chunkbase, once you get used to it, you'll find it easy.
Chunkbase slime finder appears bugged on TU12. If you select Xbox version, I'm pretty sure it gives you the wrong chunks. I spent a day opening up a 1x2 slime chunk, and never had a single slime show up. Verified the chunks in a different app, and got COMPLETELY different results. Started mining out a different location suggested by the other app, and I now have slimes.

There may indeed by an error in the Chunkbase formula. I used a superflat version of the ME world seed (44545343454) and fenced off three slime chunks in one area of the map using coordinates from the Chunkbase app. Two of the fenced chunks spawned slime immediately, the third never did (although this could be that the other two chunks and other nearby unfenced chunks used up the max limit before the third could spawn slimes. It took me under a single minecraft day to run the tests. Using a superflat to double check the slime chunks before digging out your farm can save you a lot of time.
However, the other slimefinder I checked gives me the same results. Are you sure you typed in your see correctly and then hit the "Find Slimes" button after you entered your seed? One issue I have with the app is it shows a random seed right off the bat and doesn't really give a definite indicator that it has recalculated the results to the seed you typed.
Why won't they spawn?

Just tried it to re-confirm. Don't select Xbox version. If you leave it on PC, it will show the proper/accurate results.
