Well...didn't really think protection far as walls or golems were needed so soon into the world, since I made it like yesterday. So I Kinda just left the village torchless and unprotected. I guess over the nights of mining and what not, they all were killed by zombies...
Now time for the question
- Their is a nearby village right next to my current village (thank god) and I wanted to know if
the only way of repopulating my current village was to move the ones from my second village
to my current one.
not confusing at all. and the title plus your user name and avatar.. priceless.
you could easily make a villager breeding system that would allow you to flood villager anywhere they act like most mobs so mobivators and water flumes work perfect. and if you trap 2 in the second village and if the 1st village isat least 128 away you can keep them breeding in the second village as they are transported to the 1st. hope that wasnt confusing.
a simple villager trap. first make sure the village is safe. wall it in with iron doors wired to buttons. then break all the doors. place the doors around a 7x7 square. wait for the villagers to enter, they should all go "inside" when it gets dark. make sure you place blocks above the doors on the inside of the structure this simulates the roof of the house. once they are all inside dig the floor down 2 and place some track in a circle in the center of the area with 2 minecarts to trap villagers. when they are trapped dig down 2 more blocks around the track platform then dig a hole into the back wall behind the track and place water this will pus the babies around and toward the exit. from there just build it like any other mob trap.

do you have or know of a blueprint for this set up? I lost all the viliagers on my map, too. and I still haven't figured out these xp traps yet.
If all your villagers on your map are dead then you can not get more currently in survival. You can probably get spawn eggs in creative but not sure about that since I don't minecraft creative.
To safe up my villages they are fenced off and lighted up (including roofs). Iron golems naturally spawn there for defense. I also take the precaution of trapping a few villagers in a house by removing the door at night and placing blocks there.
I have gotten into the habit of blocking the doors myself.. place a couple blocks in front of a door and trap them inside. They'll stay in place until you're ready to secure the village properly. I recommend not breaking doors tho.. as the game uses the number of doors in a village to figure village size and radius.
I learned to trap them after zombies broke down all the doors and left only two villagers alive. Currently they're holed up in a small house waiting for me to get around to securing and 'upgrading' their village. Poor guys.
I only have 1 survivor in the town I am working out of on the map I am playing. he got trapped in the church at creation, the church door spawned under 5 blocks of sand and I never excavated it. there are 2 other villiages on the map with villiagers, but they are too far away to make herding a couple back to the main villiage practical. and I love this map because the spawn point is only about 60 meters or so from the main villiage, which is the first COMPLETE villiage I have ever seen. (Forge x1, Library x2, church x1, butcher x1, small house x2, hut x2, large house x1). I am not really that far into this map, I guess I could start over and focus on keeping the Villiers alive longer. shouldn't be too hard since that villiage is in the desert.

if your not that far into it id start with the same seed.though your spawn might be in a slightly different location. just make sure you know the coordinates of that village and rush to it and secure it before nightfall. water flumes and mobevators arent that bad. i covered 158 blocks with mine and it goes over 100 into the air for the golem spawner

hmm, what parts confusing. there isnt a strict tutorial on what i did. its basically a combination of overlookedent's design and one that was made for pc with another mob trap thrown in. so its a combination of 3 different designs. the mobevator is a simple water elevator where you place a sign then a water source block on top of it in a pattern until you reach the height you want, you have to end it with a water source block that flows away from the mobevator.
Wait, before ANYTHING, I'd wait until after the bug fix. I tried that with one village and came back yesterday and there were literally hundreds of villagers and six iron golems, enough to make my game lag so bad.

Having to exterminate some villagers is a much better problem than not having any. For economy of weapons and so the golems wouldn't attack me I used a bucket of lava to 'relocate' villagers.
Edit: I believe if you are playing a seed that you know where the villages are then you can gather supplies and get weapons before going to the village. Just stay 128 blocks (200 is better) away from the village and hostile mobs won't spawn to kill villagers.

it is a hella long number with a - in front,. the seed name is: westport
no caps, no extra characters. the only down side of this map is it is between 50 & 60% tundra. and I mean TUNDRA!! kind of cuts from the NW corner of the map down to the SE corner with desert above and below it and then plains, forests, & jungle in the NE & SW corners. there are a few spruce but the map is really dominated by a Mongolia-like tundra. mostly flat with few hills and even fewer trees. no real mountain range to speak of. initial spawn point is in the SW quadrant in a Oak/Brirch forest about 60 m NW of the largest of 3 villages. this villiage is on the edge of the forest in a desert region and not far from the southern border of the map. the other villiages are in the SE & NE corners of the map. there is an abandoned well about 70m east of the main villiage. there is only one forge on the whole map, the other villiages each only boast 1 building of importance, I think a church and a library, but I don't really remember. I know there is a stronghold with a end gate, but I don't know the co ordinates, I had them written down pre TU10, but haven't used this seed since then and lost my notes on it.
Ah, I may check it out. I have a map where I have three villages and three forges. The villages are all real close, but not close enough to be one huge village. They are also all in sand areas but close the plain. What I liked about this map was there is a well just off shore in the ocean so it was easy to build a dock to it.

Just for future reference the seed number will be 19 digits if random. Named seeds can be fewer then that. When I give someone a seed I triple check the number and count the digits. One number off is not the same thing. smiley face for minecraft.

I would do that, too. but I didn't write down the number, and I use my xbox to access the forums. easier to just give what I used for the seed, to be honest, I was surprised my xbox let me type that reply. it usually restarts when I am about half way through a long post like that.

what is the seed number for that?
