Restarted my 24/7 server as usual this morning and decided to try the mass effect texture pack. Downloaded the trial version and started minecrafting. Went to another xbox to see how the texture packs interact with other players and it wouldn't let me download the trial version or the full version so I could not join the 24/7 server. Then went back to the 24/7 server to save/exit and undo the texture pack and it wouldn't let me save the game unless I downloaded the full version. So I have lost several hours of minecrafting for a texture pack that is overall unappealing. There are a few blocks that were neat but I just don't think this texture pack works with minecraft on several levels. Mostly because it wouldn't let me save the game unless I bought the full version.

It does tell you that it won't let you save unless you buy the full version, so I guess lesson learnt.
"The new packs are free to try, but you will need to purchase if you want to save any creations that you have made with it."
Reading is good for you, however, it helps if you also try using some basic comprehension skills.

My introduction to Minecraft:BOOM!!*I'm deader than a door nail.* (Me) What the heck was that? (My son, laughing) It's a mob that will explode and kill you! (Me) Gee. Thanks for the warning.
Well, at least you got further than I did. The Live account issue happened just as I was trying to get my son to download it... so I'll have to wait until he gets home late, late tonight to even get a peak at it.
I just gave in and bought it for $3.99, seems fairly priced especially seeing as how this new UI is slightly easier to read, and mining has become 400% easier (the mineral ores differ extremely from the dirt, gravel, and stone, etc.)

I've seen a few people post this. I haven't downloaded the mash-up, but I can't work out how this is so. I have no problem spotting iron or coal or whatever else as it is. How can you spot it any easier? And spotting it's not the problem, it's getting to it and mining it. Am I missing something here?

Well, for me and my wife, being underground even when gamma is up to 100%, just seems to blend everything together (because minerals are surrounded in stone in the ores), however, these blocks are like spotting a TNT block in a mass of stone blocks. It's contrast that makes it easier for us, instead of gamma.

Everyone's eyes are different. As a person with some vision issues, I do have problems normally spotting some of the ores and I do have friends who have problems spotting different ores than I do.
You know that you are supposed to place torches down, right? People who turn the gamma up to avoid doing this this just baffle me. The torches prevent monsters spawning too...
Yes, torches are included in the common sense of my post lol I don't know what it is, I just can't explain how it's easier, but I've seen people numerous times just run right over iron without ever seeing it, it's happened to me alot recently.

Various vision issues can affect how well people see certain colors. There are a few different types of color blindness and even mild cataracts can cause people to see a duller color pallet. My one friend really has a problem with spotting iron ore in particular. Pink is just not a color he sees very well anymore.
Wow, that's interesting. My eyesight is not the best, but I can spot ore at the bottom of a ravine if there is enough light. I do sometimes mistake diamond for iron, which has been a source of great disappointment for me in the past when I have spent 20-30min cutting a stairway to the bottom of a ravine for nothing! I never knew anyone had this problem.
Of course it wouldnt let you save it if you didnt have the full version, what would the point be in basically giving you the pack for free ?
I wasn't expecting to get the pack for free. Don't play mass effect and don't like the texture pack. I was more interested in seeing how it works for future packs. But back to the point. I figured once the trial ran out I would just lose the textures in the pack. Once in the game I couldn't change textures so I couldn't save. The cost seems reasonable IF it was a pack I was interested in. Hoping they get some medival style pack so we can get more block choices.

But the MC trial packs arent time limited, they never have been, so there ISNT any time to run out

Really? this is your main reason. 4J has stated it, it states it on the trail version. Thank you for a good chuckle this morning.
