On twitter, the Dokucraft team has been trying to get 4J's word on porting their texture pack to the Xbox Edition, but to no avail. On the other side the Sphax team got word from 4J fairly easily and is currently working with Microsoft and 4J. I'm convinced we won't be getting Dokucraft due to legal issues. Just like skins, 4J isn't allowed to use IP's without permission from the original owner/creator. Although Dokucraft's been supported for quite sometime, it's been ran by the comminity, the original creator stopped supporting it after 1.8. Unless 4J speaks to him at some point, we may not see it on Xbox.
But then why is it always updated for the new updates? Somebody has to do that and they'll contact them
As far as I know, Hickerydickery runs the pack now. The current packs are updated by community members, I guess the new blocks they texture would be their IP, but they never created the original pack. The original pack is created by Doku, therefore it's his property, he has to give permission for the Texture pack to be used.

All 4j has to do is slightly change the shade (barely even noticeable) to call it there own, and HickeryDickery probably can contact doku
That is a shame. Doku is a great texture pack. I think we'll see something in that vein however whether 4J created or not because there is simply demand for this type of texture pack. I'll have to start tweeting 4J incessantly until they relent.

I don't think it's relent-able problem.
If the chain of ownership for a property isn't clear, then a company needs to avoid using or licensing it.
The Doku guy ain't around, he owns it. Even if he "gave it away", the risk remains that he may contest the matter later.
While the wording on contracts and licensing can be very confusing, the premise behind them is not.
Somebody always wants to stop you from not paying for/using their stuff.
You can't wish away that these things will "work out" because lawyers make their living finding violations and suing on behalf of clients.
I don't think you comprehended my message. I meant 4j will have to respond to the demand for this type of texture even if they create it in house. It won't be doku but something in that vein.
