Going from level 70+/- to about level 230+/- and considering a minecart elevator or using the nether portal teleportation trick. Any thoughts or other suggestions? Want to build a sky village/base/house. By the way how tall can jungle trees get?
The minecart elevator would take 3 stacks of iron and it may glitch since it's that high?
The down side for the nether portal is any portal in a large radius (120? blocks) would teleport people into my sky house.

Have you considered a boat elevator? Not as fast as minecart elevator but less resource intensive.
Naturally jungle trees only go to clouds but unless im mistaken you can grow them higher. Personally im building my own super tree to live in. 1.5k or so jungle leaves and 3k jungle wood so far.
Quite annoyed by vines though :/ . I have some so far the whole way up to 220 (side branch, main needs built still) and they touch the ground. Little rediculous :/
Im doing a sky village at 200 blocks, allowing some room for build height. Nether portals can only take you up to 127 blocks high, portals higher get recreated o. The ground level below 128 blocks within a 50 block radius of the original portal. To resolve this issue, im doing a combination of a neth portal to get up to 127 blocks, and then a combination of waterfalls leading down to the mini island with the nether portal.

Didn't know about that portal limitation; thanks. I'm not a big fan of the waterfall method. It is nice to be able to cut off the ladder though. I may try that intermediate base with a portal.
Like a platform you want to aim for, and use ender pearls. Reason I say jump points is due to how high you can toss one of those. It is a different way if you have enough ender pearls. If done right, pretty quick as well.:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
personally, I would prefer the nether portal metheod. but every time I try to use multiple portals, only outside the nether works. I would love a nether portal transit system, but I just cant get it to work.

Kind of like that idea. Maybe a portal to a central location then jump to various parts (islands) of a sky village. Thanks.

Your portals are too close together. Thats one down side about using the nether. I generally make one portal at 35 blocks underground, and the second on my sky island. I test the portals to make sure they are a good enough distand apart (x,z), height doesnt seem to effect the two portals.
Once im happy with the ground portal placement i'll build a house or some old temple there, then place that portal at 35 blocks from the bottom or lower. Check my portals just to make sure they are still close to eachother and then save, reset nether (if i made more then one ground portal so that all the extras down there are removed) and start building.
Creative mode on a secondary map can help for finding the exact cords for where your going to place the portals in your original map, that way you dont have to worry about messing uo any of your maps landscape with random portals.
Its best to always build your portals outside the neither when trying to get a good placement for two to link together in there.

Ladders. Done. Discussion over

I'm using vines now but it takes so long for the climb wanted something faster.

TNT is always off on my servers. It just gets used too much by griefers.
