When a new update drops, I start a new map most of the time. When I do, I start off by taking over a village. Well this time I don't think it was a wise idea. Now that they breed, the population boomed in my little city. More often than not when night falls it's a squidward party at my house. So bad that there are time that I can't get in the doors. Anyone else having a problem with the spawn rates of the villagers?
I found a village with three houses and about four or five villagers. They can open doors now and kept crowding me in the little house I took for myself. I killed a villager, knocked down two houses, no more villagers. This is my only experience with villagers since the update. It is probably not at all helpful
Yes, I've noticed this... in my one old world where I had done village improvements, I have about 8 villager kids running around and they've taken a particular liking to my door... in/out... in/out... and on and on.
As suggested, just reduce the number of doors in the village (not sure if it reduces an already established population of them though; you might have to dial up the difficulty level for a bit and invite some zombies over for a snack. Another alternative is to just build a fence around the entire village or give each villager a fenced exercise yard... and build your house outside the fence.
This map (using it on a 24/7 server) has only a single one house village. It also has the rare desert sandstone well. It has all Biomes in good balance. Made after TU12.
Simple, use an iron door on the house you want for yourself.
exactly what I was going to say and have done. in the house you take for your self, install an iron door with either a lever or button activation. no pressure plate as they can operate that. I am also probably going to move my main building well outside city limits, the constant opening and closing of doors it going to drive me bat-Â crazy. as for getting them out of my way when I work, I wait until night fall when they all run to houses, and block them in. I am about 5 door sounds away from becoming a mass murder of villiagers in my world.
I'm seeing a huge number of villagers in one village. There must be at least 100. 6 or 7 iron golems. No more than a dozen houses.
It's starting to lag my game.

You certainly can, but I find using a little fenced area just outside the door or even just replacing your door with a fence gate even simpler and easier to accomplish early on in a survival game (no iron needed). It also means you don't have to muck about with the quick timing of iron doors activated by buttons or the issues with trying to put levers on both sides of an iron door (if that bug is still there).
The village I took over has gotten so crowded I can't even get in and out of some houses. I built a few larger houses for them to scatter about but dannnnnnggg.
I was tearing down one of the small pre made houses and a villager walks in my way and took an axe to the head, well that turned out well after 5 iron golems surrounded me and took me down in one shot. Now I know, when working in village carry as little inventory as possible.
Pretty fun building them their new and improved village though.

I agree - the population controls in some old worlds seems to be really messed up. I'm wondering if, when calculating how many new villagers to breed in an expanded village, the game is counting all the doors in the entire world, not just ones that would normally be considered added to that village.

They act just like real kids, then? That's kind of cute. I wish I hadn't killed them off/scared them away now!
it isn't just the child villiagers that do this, the adults do too, and believe me, it is NOT cute.

Not sure why you would care.
At the moment their only good
for decorations
They're so useless that I have hundreds of Iron Ingots from the golems they spawned.
Man, having all of this renewable Iron is such a pain now....
Stay fluffy~
you didn't have to be sarcastic about it
