TU12 has been released, but was it planned? As far as I know from J4's Twitter they didn't have a release date for it and they said it would be announced when they knew when it was?
Maybe the update was rushed out the door like 1.8 was? Idk.
It wasn't accidentally released, it was in certification for 10 business days, and obviously they didn't find any big bugs, or else it wouldn't be out.
Prepare to be "X'd", seems like reporting the newest update of minecraft is banned from this minecraft forum. You'll need to seek elsewhere for important minecraft info.
It's not banned. They have rules in place to keep people from spamming the general discussion part of the forum. If they let anyone announce the update, there'd be fifty threads about it right now. That's why the "Official Minecraft Twitter Feed" thread was created. To stop spam.
OP: It wasn't "accidental." None of us know what goes on behind Microsoft's doors, but I'm assuming (for some reason - probably consumer demand) they decided to push out the update today, instead of announcing it today and waiting til Monday to release it.

Your thread was asking where the twitter thread was. It was asking a forum question, not an Minecraft X360 one.
Since the announcement on twitter, two other people have created post just linking the twitter post.
All threads that just post information directly from the twitter are closed and told to post it in the twitter thread. This topic isn't just "twitter update news!". The user had a question, and those topics are, and have always been just fine.
In theory I agree that is a good thing, but the first person who posted that the new update was released was "X'd", luckily I read it before it dropped down the forum out of sight and i'd probably have not realised it had been released until tomorrow when I checked the 4J twitter page. Personally i'd rather hear about important minecraft releases from a minecraft dedicated forum rather than the developers. That's just me though
Because it was against the rules. It wasn't in the right place, so it was locked. Big whoop. I feel like locking a post attracts more attention to it, anyways. That big, red "X" is very attractive to the eye...

Umm.. No. I think I'm fine. I'm not posting this to inform anybody about TU12. I'm here asking about its release in general.
And btw, if you think a post is spam your not helping by replying to it. Like you did now Mr. First.
It may just be that my xbox isn't syncing with the marketplace properly, but does anyone else have no texture packs? I mean, I'd think that they would release the function with at least ONE alternate pack. I understand they will be coming out periodically like the skin packs, but not even one on release day?

They released texture pack support. No actual texture packs yet. They coded the game to work with them, which means they're coming soon. Be patient.

I don't mind if my post was "x'd", I expected it, I just needed the link to the info about the newly released update which to be honest would have been very hard to find unless you were "in the know". I don't think you guys realise that the average minecraft player doesn't check every single sub-forum, or sub-pinned post here. This update is very important to the average minecrafter and if you can't find info on the "main" discussion page there's something wrong, in my humble opinion anyway.
The new subform and the twitter thread/change log has been in the next section since shortly before TU 10 and 11. Before the section, every thread that would talk about the update would be locked those threads started cluttering up the discussion section. To cut down on locked thread the new subform was created so that users could create topics with their excitement for the upcomming and new updates.
It was a mistake on my part for not linking, and I am sorry for that. I corrected my mistake and in your thread I told you about the subforum and the location of other threads of interest others may have. I know that a lot of people don't check (it's why we still have multiplayer threads in the discussion section).
Especially because the update was pushed out before announcing the date. Thanks.
There is no need to announce a date for an update. 4J tell us when the latest update is handed over to Microsoft Certification Testing, and from then on it'll come out within 10 business days.

So pretty much; when it goes in for certification testing the specifics don't matter because its inevitably going to be released within 10 days.
After its released for certification, the update has to be given an available release window. We've seen it in the past sometimes take one or two days after certification before an update comes out. Apparently in this case the available windows were 'right now' or 'next week'
You DID inform us that it had been released, as you opened with "TU12 has been released"...all other posts mentioning this info were "x'd", I expected the same for you...you must have a special hand shake

Maybe the update was rushed out the door like 1.8 was? Idk.
But was it planned? That what OP was getting at. Also explained why they had these thoughts after reading 4J twit.
Bill Gates and Major Nelson had a meeting, and were like OMG! dozens of pre-teens are going to rage quit MC "foreva" if we don't release update 12 before the weekend!
Or... It's a mostly automated system where once approved, it gets added to the next scheduled update.

I'd rather hear it straight from the devs mouth because people tend to lie about things.
yep, some dude joined reddit, just to say it was out earlier this week, and did it twice.

As long as the update passes cert, then yes.
To be precise, it's 10 business days.
