Is it possible to play offline, multiplayer, on the same tv and same xbox

Yea my son and I do it, the second player has to be added from the beginning, not mid-game (unless you have two xbox live accounts, we don't.) So you choose your level & options and make sure the second controller is turned on. The next screen should show "Join" on the right side and the green X button next to it. So push X on the second controller, choose guest, then hit X again. You can also both play on other people's servers too as long as you join it from outside of Minecraft, I do it from the home screen, and make sure the second controller is on when you accept the game invite or you wont get the option for them to join. And like the other posters said, you do have to have a high definition tv with an HDMI cable hooked up to your xbox. Hope it works for you!
