Hey I made a mob spawner do for a zombie dungeon and I have a suffocation timed softener. Two things. They're still a full heart so I have to use a stone sword. Other than dropping them four blocks cuz I think suffocation does a full heart at a time, not sure. How can i get them down to a punch? I know they have armor so that makes it a huge pain in the butt. Also, I couldn't quite tell if I was being efficient enough with it. How many blocks away from the spawner do they have to be before the spawner will keep spawning?

6 Blocks away, and Yes zombie's Shirts are like armor of some kind.. In all forms of killing systems they last the longest.. or have the most heart remaining. Lava softner,gravity and suffocation. Something I've just learned to live iwth.. But yeah..mobs have to be at least 6 blocks away from the spawner for the spawner to produce more. Hope that helps.
You could funnel them into something like this
and use lava. But still anyway you look at it. They'll have more life in them as opposed to a skeleton or creeper.

Their shirt is not armor. It's just a texture. There's no aesthetics to their armor. They're programmed with armor, but their texture has nothing to do with it.
