Is there a way to tell time in game? Or do I have to see the moon come over the horizon and hit a stop watch. I'm running a test and need something more precise than that sun/moon watch.
I think you're stuck with using a stop watch... and even the relative accuracy of that would depend on variations in your reaction to the moon coming up over the horizon. You could perhaps build a redstone countdown clock, but given how complex redstone seams to be susceptible to lag and general glitching out, I doubt it would stay accurate for a series of whole Minecraft days or nights.
You're compressing 24 hours into 20 minutes (or 12 into 10), so if you made a clock the hands would be spinning like a windmill. I don't think you can be 'precise'.
If you want to get a good average, spend about 10 minecraft days and nights with a stopwatch. That will be about as precise as you can get. Of course any kind of lag due to whatever is in the world will move that time around in real world time......so ya..lol
I'm guessing some kind of day/night sensor....
