I thought this was a great idea so that way older worlds won't be forgotten and they can have new biomes and possibly generated emeralds, depending on whats in the launch of the MCXOE. But then I also thought about DLC.
As some of you may know, you can transfer your current Windows Live (Or Xbox 360 gamer profile) account to the Xbox One. That account carries all of your download history, for example, skin packs. With the launch of MCXOE, it is probably likely that 4J will release Skin Packs, Mash-up packs, and maybe other Downloadable content.
But what about our current DLC? With the upcoming release of a Mash-Up Pack and more skin packs to come in the future does this mean we will have to buy all of the Content we purchased on the 360 because it's a new platform? Or will our download history carry over to the Xbox One and we can download our Skin Packs and Mash Up packs again?
I'd love for DLC to carry over. However if I had to choose my worlds over my DLC, I would in a heartbeat. I do think this is something 4J should look into. I know people in a bit are gonna come in here and say "it's not the 360 edition it's the ONE edition" and that's true. However, by that logic our worlds should not carry over either because this is the 360 version.

Yes, this is true. But if 4J are using the same files as the 360 edition there would be no reason why not besides it's a new platform. It would be possible unless 4J are making it from the ground up like they did for MCXBLA.
I think while the game itself, the XBone edition, will need to be purchased anew, regardless of whether or not you bought the 360 version, the files (maps and DLC, such as skin-packs) will transfer over.
I think of it in terms of emulators. Say you had two Nintendo emulators: NESten and Nesticle. They are seperate programs from each other but they can both load the same Rom.
Besides, it would be an excellent marketing move from 4J. "Hey, all the skin packs you bought for 360 edition will work for the One edition at no extra cost" will probably convince more people to buy the One version than, "Hey, those skinpacks are useless, but guess what? You can buy them all over again."
I extremely doubt that we will be keeping any DLC we download for the 360 Edition and carry it over to the Xbox One. We still do not even know if our saves are going to carry over.
You could get DLC for games on the original Xbox, and while you could play most of those games on the 360, you couldn't transfer your DLC onto the 360 even though your Gamertag and profile carried over.
I think:
* They're "discussing" making 360 worlds > One worlds. The idea that new biomes and ores will be added is dreaming as you not only got HD graphics, you've got a bigger size to contend with.
* You're 'old' worlds aren't gonna be 'forgotten'. You aren't selling your 360, nor is it gonna quit working 12/1/13, right?
* I don't think you'd want to use your 'old' DLC. Don't you want the new HD skins, etc.? Trying to combine the 'old' look with a 'new' look…. never looks right.
My advice: IF you know you're getting a One fairly soon, don't buy any more 360 skins, DLC, etc. Maybe 4J will fix it so they will transfer over, maybe they can't. All I'm saying is maybe you may not like the end result even if you could. But as Godside said, wait and see. It's your money.

I don't want to buy all the skins again when i already bought them
I get that.
But on one hand you bought them for the 360 version, not the One version. If they transfer, great, if not, oh well! (But I see no reason why you couldn't redownload and apply them. As others have said, "We'll see.")

As a side note, several game sites confirm that, at launch, 360 worlds transferred to the One will remain 360 size. They also said 4J is looking into a "Resize Save" option later to expand 360 worlds to One size.

4J has said that non licensed skin packs and texture packs will move to the Xbox One as well. Meaning you won't have to buy them again either.
