Do you think that 4j Studios is performing up to par? In my opinion, they could do better. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for what they've done but it seems like they're more focused on the Xbox One Edition then the current, Xbox 360 Edition. What do you think?
...but it seems like they're more focused on the Xbox One Edition then the current, Xbox 360 Edition.
IF that's true (and you know this because), they should be working hard on the newer, future version that will have more capabilities than a version that will be 'old' in a few months.
I think we'll be lucky if they work at all on the 360 version after TU12.
I can't say if they're performing up to par, because there is no par for me. I realize I will never be happy with what I have if I constantly compare it to something else, or what I or anyone thinks it could or should be.

On June 10 4J tweeted,"Yes, we will continue making updates after the release of #MinecraftXbox1 for both the 360 and One Edition." So it isn't a matter of luck.
Impressed? I suppose. They did make something that I have little knowledge how to do( I've made a lot of stuff in my life). I would say I'm happy with the game tho. Been playing since release on the box and I like the game. Sure it's had it's bugs, but what game doesn't? And I'll continue to play this version if I don't get the one. It's fun. If it ain't fun your doing something wrong.
What evidence do you have that they are focused on the Xbox One Edition? Reams of Xbox One trailers, tweets... what? I'm with Cobra, I don't think you have any real clue about how they are prioritizing their workload and neither do we.
I also agree with Geneo, It's in their best corporate interests for the longer term to put effort into the Xbox One Edition since many people will naturally stop playing their Xbox 360 games once the Xbox One is released and others may change over to other next gen consoles.
What am I basing this idea on? - Well, it's happened that way in the past whenever a new generation of consoles has been released.
The reality is that the 360 is verging on becoming completely obsolete. Of course, some of us will continue to play on it as long as our consoles still start up... just like some of us still play the occasional movie on video tape even though the picture sucks and new sequels of those movies are now pretty much only available on Blu-Ray disc.
That 4J have made a commitment to us to continue updating the Xbox 360 Edition alongside the Xbox One Edition shows that they do desire to provide us with ongoing customer support even though they would seem to have very little to gain financially from doing so.
I bought Minecraft for the XBox 360 because I wanted to play the game I took home from GameStop, not because I wanted to play some other game that it might become at some time in the future, after TU12 or TU20 or TU157. If I hadn't wanted to play the game that came in the little green box, I would have bought some other game instead.
And when they release the XBone, my 360 is not suddenly going to stop working. Heck, my Atari 2600 (that I bought from a yard sale for five bucks, with a bag of games) still works fine, and it's probably older than most of y'all. And the company that made it doesn't even exist anymore. So I'm going to be able to play the game I decided looked fun enough to play ... well, as long as that 360 still boots.
So, yeah, I was sufficiently impressed with 4J's work to shell out $20 for a game they made. Will they continue to impress me? I can't say either way; if I could predict the future, I'd know next week's winning lottery numbers. But I liked the game that was for sale, I bought it, and I've been having fun. Didn't you?
Aside from some underlying code that allows for larger worlds and maybe better graphics, the 360 and One versions are essentially the same exact game. Whenever 4J writes a code, it will work for both versions. As far as I know, they are both written in C++.
With that said, and with 4J's statement that they will continue to update the 360 after the launch of the XBone, I think you're remarks are unfounded and , frankly, unfair. While updates will likely stop for the 360 at some point (when the system cannot handle anymore, or the demand on the 360 drops), I don't see it happening anytime soon. Chances are, the 360 version will continue to develop along-side the One version for next 6-10 months.
Actually I personally am impressed with the amount of time they made the updates. If I were to compare, they actually did from 1.7.3 to 1.2.3 quite quickly when comparing how long it took the pc to do the same. At least I think so. After all converting code takes less time when you know what you are doing. That and adding what is necessary as well dropping what is not...
what they have done is amazing work keeping up with the many console side bugs as well fixing certain ones that were in the code to begin with for the pc. Of course not all, as testing can only result so much with a small crew. But they are doing the best or close to it, and that much I do appreciate.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

I endorse this post! I'm with you when you say you bought this game to play this game, not some unpredictable expansion of it. This is why I never accept a title update right away. I want to make sure it doesn't introduce unwelcome elements to my game, the one that I bought to play.
I owned an Atari 2600 in its day. It was the Sears TeleGames version of it. Ah, the bad old days. I don't miss those primitive beginnings at all.

Haha. I always loved going to my parents friends house so we could play intellivision. It was so differnt from Atari. I actually remember being excited when my neighbors got pong. Dang gamers got it good today. Don't get me started about arcades in the mall. Or the 7-11 with joust and dig-dug.
I'm pretty happy with 4J's work to date. As a consumer I'm impatient and want everything faster but they have consistently provided updates on a decent timeline. As for the XboX One. I hope/expect that they are focused on this. I would be disappointed if they weren't however having focus on the new version doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't continuing to work hard on the 360 version. These aren't amateurs after all. 4j is a seasoned game development company and have a pedigree in porting games. They likely have spun up a new team to work on XboX One while others continue with the 360 work. I bet the 360 folks are jealous of the XBO team as they have a platform to implement all of the things that everyone has been dreaming of but that the hardware limitations have dampened.

So you have decided, with no evidence at all, that they are short-changing you?
Tell you what; if you are so sure they are slacking, how about making a better port?
No? Then maybe you should cut them some slack.

Why yes.
