if there was to be a free texture pack dlc i think it should be a vanilla HD texture pack of everything as it is now but in HD, i believe the current resolution is 16×16 which is just stupid, the 360 could handle alot higher than that... anyways tell me what you guys think

I wouldn't hold my breath for HD anything on the 360... let alone a freebie.
Otherwise, I'm pretty sure they will release a promo texture pack and/or mashup pack for free at some point, just as they have done with skin packs. It probably won't be the most popular theme out there, but it will probably be pretty respectable for a freebie. They have also confirmed that people will be able to download trial versions that will enable them to fully view textures if someone else with the full version puts them into their maps.
I agree with the title of this thread. If they are going to have free texture/mashup packs, they should at least give us one of those for free. I'm not sure I'd be ok with having to pay for ALL the free mashup/texture packs.
There will be free texture packs and mash up packs. You just won't be able to save your game while using it.
I do not think 4J should release anything for free honestly. No one here is entitled to something free. If they decide that they want to release a full free pack and not just the free trial ones used to see what they do before you buy, then more power to them. I don't think they should do it just because want it though.
I don't agree. I will gladly pay for goods and services. It's how the world works. At least it's how my little chunk works. Now if they wanna give me a extra packet of gravy for free ill always take it. Might not use it. But I'll take it.
The 360 may not be able to handle MC at a higher resolution and do all the things it does. However, the One version, with it's addition ram, can hand HD graphics (and 'bigger' worlds), so hang on, they're coming.
Anyway, I'm not expecting any "free" stuff, and they shouldn't have to do anything.

Minecraft XBLA gets screwed enough by microsoft when it comes to skins that cost money. I'm 99% sure Mash Up Packs will cost money too. All of this DLC content we get PC gets for free. It is a different version, yes, but it should be free.

Because PC has a bigger skin library that is free while we pay money for 40 skins. I'm glad 4J pushed Microsoft in to making it pocket money so you could get Microsoft points from Bing for free or pay $5 for 2 skin packs, but even if it is on another platform, it should be free.

I do NOT agree that 4j has or should give us anything for free. If they choose to then I will gratefully say thank you. If not, then oh well. The fact that they continue to upgrade the game and don't make us pay for that is more than good enough for someone like me.

Just because someone else, somewhere else, got something for free does not entitle you to that same thing for free. Skin Packs seriously only cost
Mojang agreed to allow skins and texture packs to be DLC, which Microsoft required to cost money. If you wanna blame someone for our skins and things not being free, blame Mojang. They agreed to Microsoft's deal.
Personally I will never buy such packs, i believe that said companies are making a fortune for something they throw together in a few hours using junior level artists.
I've seen as good or better skins on PC, which we all know are for free. I can't comment on mash up packs yet as I've not seen them. Personally I think its a shame that we can't create our own, but I totally understand why.
My take on that they should give us some 'packs' for free, is no they shouldn't, after all it does use up assets such as artists, and the bandwidth to distribute them, but that still don't stop me from wanting the tools and the ability to create my own. I'm honestly tired of people saying "oh skins and tp's should be free on the xbox cause they are on the PC." No they should not. Paying for this stuff in no different than paying for anything else you want in life. This stuff is made by other people so that you can use and enjoy them. This stuff is also extremely cheap. People need to get over the fact that they didn't pay for PC minecraft. We payed for a minecraft made by a different company with an actual PUBLISHER. Case closed.
I agree that nothing is free and having -paid- DLC is a viable alternative to paying for updates to the game. It creates revenue streams for the three companies involved while they continue to pay developers/testers salaries, rent, capital expenses, etc while providing us with continuous free updates to a game that cost less than half of a normal Xbox game and provides endless hours of entertainment and enjoyment. As for the "its free on PC" argument I say take a look at your total cost of ownership. The PC game is more expensive and runs on hardware that is much more expensive than the Xbox. We play a lot of split screen at my house on a 60 inch TV. What would that cost me on PC? Also note that the PC version is distributed directly from the creator. For Xbox you have three parties involved and all are subsequently getting paid for their involvement. All-in-all I think that Minecraft for Xbox has been the bargain of the modern gaming industry. The cost per hour of playtime dwarfs any other game that I have seen. I know this is a shock to the younger folks in the audience but things cost money to produce and companies are in business to make profits. I will be buying every texture/mashup pack that I taking a liking to and I will be happy to do it as this helps to ensure that the game continues to evolve.
