Sometimes when I see a seed post, it says that the seed has mob spawners. But I don't get it, why is it so important?
Also, if you like using bows (like I do), Skeleton spawners are very valuable as a source of arrows. Add to that the Looting enchantment you can get on a sword using the exp you got killing them, you'll never need an infinity enchantment.
I don't find them very important. I always explore abandoned mineshafts and look for dungeons so I just destroy them. I only use blaze spawners for xp, or build a slime trap.
I just place four torches on each side of the Spawner, in case I want to go back to it and use it. I mean, no sense on destroying it for like, half of level 1, then later regretting it.

They generally aren't critically important, but they are easy to make simple mob traps from to gathering XP or supplies of their drops if you need them.
skeleton spawners are nice for arrows, Cave spider spawners are nice for killing your real bad.
A skeleton spawner isn't necessary if you enchant a bow to have infinity, since carrying around stacks of arrows is a pain anyway. However, I do like walling off blaze spawners, building a potion room next to it for fire resist, and using it for an XP grind in a tight spot.
