Can creepers read minds? I was making something and I thought "Well it would really suck if a creeper blew up right about now." and then out of the corner of my eye I see one jump down from a cliff and blow up everything I've ever loved. What do you think?
I don't know if it's that they can read minds, or they are programmed to pop up at the worst possible time But no, definitely not just you. I can almost guarantee if I say the words "It's finally finished!" when building something, that a creeper will be there (out of nowhere) in about 2 seconds!

Truthfully though after having watched the all the mobs from the tops of the many tower keeps I've built, I've noticed that the creepers move further in straight lines as they wander. It may deliberate as they have to get next to you to do damage. Zombies start hitting two away and skeletons can hit you from all across their detection range. The fact that they are silent till just before exploding also helps, if you're busy and never spotted them... boom! But they do seem to to show up at the wrong time a lot, it's a little creepy, hence the name.

I had a creeper on the other side of my fence. I was still in the process of getting my whole place fortified and needed to work on one particular side and not the side the creeper is on. I remember this and when I came back outside after going in to get something the creeper was inside the perimeter coming from the one un fortified direction

Clearly I was not asking how to kill a creeper, if I was then it would have been formed as that sort of question. When you literally spot one out of the corner of your eye already exploding and you have no sword in your hand and such, there's not much you can do. well EXCUUUUUUSE ME Princess. I misread the question. at that point you just eat the damage and hope it dont either kill you or destroy your build / ore you trying to mine. Noob? says the guys complaining about omnipitant creepers

So y'all need to hide yo kids, hide yo wife, and hide yo husband 'cause they blowin' everybody up here
Anyway, I'm not so sure they can read minds, cause they don't seem to dodge my arrows very well. Though I did discover a mineshaft and as I exited so I could go home and get everything I wanted with me to explore it, 2 or 3 creepers all blew up in succession just as I came up out of the ground. Surprisingly, it took me forever to find where I came up, despite the fact there was a huge crater there.

To the Brutal one. Instead of all that jiving, just get a diamond sword and two and they are dead. P.s why is someone with the name "the brutal one" quoting the movie tangled?

its pretty bad when you totally dont get one of hte oldest legend of Zelda lines in the history of forever. and I dont have to go mosh to be brutal. I am Brutal just by my bloodline alone.
Back on topic. the fact is that the creepers are programmed to kamakazi you, wether its at your strong/house/whatever, some ore that your trying to dig out, or you're on a single row cobblestone bridge over a massive pool of lava and the creeper actually have a stroke of intelegence and kill you in the lava.
