I have been playing XBMC for a couple weeks now. My home is build in a forest, in a clearing, with plenty of mining areas around. Being in a forest was nice when I was a newbie, however I think the rawbacks are beginning to outnumber the benefits. I cant wander at night, theres not a whole lot of room to build, and there isnt a whole lot of animal vareity. I am considering moving, but I have no idea how! My inventory is only big enough for around 1/4 of my stuff...so how would everybody reccomend moving...if I end up actually doing it (I have a monster farm I am building plus a mining hole so I dont wanna loose that). Has anyone had experience with doing it?

I've never had to move, when I start a new world I build a temporary shelter as close to the centre of the world as I can and then I spend the next few days exploring the entire map before I pick the best spot to build my permanent home. Maybe instead of moving you could clear out some of the trees around your house? Animals will follow you if you have wheat in your hand, so you could get a couple of each back to your home, put them in an enclosed area and breed them. It may take some time doing this, but it will also take time moving - finding a place, rebuilding, getting all your stuff there, etc.
I've in a sense moved a few times. I started with a temporary shelter as well in a forest, which was more like digging into the side of a hill and throwing multiple doors on. Eventually I changed the sides to wood and dug out the inside. Eventually, I went to the nearest Village and started changing how houses look, adding other building, a w all around the city, and also a place that I store my stuff. Long mineshafts can provide quick travel over long distances and even quicker with a mine cart. If you don't want to dig up from the mine shaft then get a map find the coordinates on the surface of where you want to be and dig down to the level of your mine. Then connect the mine shafts. I actually had to do this to build a mineshaft under the sea in order to transfer the mooshooms to my village. I then connected that mine shaft to the original mine I had.
A Lot - Chest minecarts / rail line to your new location. (use furnace carts to push instead of using powered carts if you wish) Fill chests, send carts, unload, rinse and repeat.
If you've not moving that much, just load up your inventory and hoof it. Prioritize your items, and transfer them most valuable / rare items first. No sense in spending hours moving cobblestone and dirt as its pretty plentiful where ever you end up.
I've done it both ways, and chest minecarts vs manually making trips, the carts definitely save quite a bit of time. However, if you aren't moving that much or not moving it that far, the work of setting up the rail line may take longer than just manually moving it.
Just like IRL,moving sucks. First take all the things that are really important. Then leave everything else where it's at. It ain't going anywhere and you'll have a second home/base. In my survival worlds I've got several spots with a bed,a few chests, and a crafting table.
When I'm playing single player, I don't really bother moving out of an old base. I just set up a new one wherever I want and leave the old one intact. If I really figure I need something from the old base beyond what I can carry in a single inventory, I just go back to get it when the need arises. Over time the stuff at the old base just dwindles away as different needs arise. Sometimes I have built rail lines between two bases just because I had the rails and it made sense for that world to do so (i.e. connecting two villages, etc.). Using a minecart with a furnace to push minecarts with chests does work well (particularly if you've been able to scavenge a bunch of regular rails from an abandoned mineshaft).
I know that if you have food in your hands then animals will follow you, but I only have wheat seeds, and plus it would be nice to see animals out in the wild sometimes. I also wanted to see more plant variety, too.
I have cleared a few trees but its harder than it sounds -- the leaves are a paint in the butt to clear. I know I dont really have to clear the leaves, but a floating thing of leaves just bothers me
Minecart sounds like a good idea -- if I move I think I may just transport my items that way.

Not sure where you're coming from here... If you're careful enough to get all the wood out of the tree, the leaves despawn themselves over a relatively short period of time. Using an iron axe, I can usually clear large forest areas through the day, go inside and smelt stuff or go underground and mine for the night and when I come back up the leaves are all gone and there are sapplings and apples just waiting for me to run around and collect them.
If You Have Alot Of Enderperals It Makes Traveling Alot Faster...If You Think Moving Is Tedious Im Guessing You May Only Have A Full Double Chest Or Two Shouldnt Take To Long...Maybe Set MinecartHalf Way Via Skyrail (So Less Clearing...Just Watch Your Step) Then Enderpearl The Rest Of The Way( Although....In Thinking This Over This Idea it May Take Awhile...featherfalling Boots Make Enderpearls Sooooooooooo Much Safer....So My Enderpearl Idea Just May Be A Bust) Or Worse Case If You Got A Buddy Have Him Help you Then Kill Him On The Last Trip To Ensure He Has No Items....Of Course Reward Him With Diamonds Or Something ...You Just Asked The Guy To Carry Your Belongings Then Killed Him....He Deserves Some Type Of Reward xD

This is probably the best advice. I have bases built up in several places, and each has some items I don't store anywhere else. For instance, all food is stockpiled in my farmhouse, while all redstone is stored near my mines. But I don't hoof it around the world when I need a particular item out of a chest across the map. I have a railway and portal system in the nether to get me quickly to my different home bases.

I agree with the above. I grab the valuable stuff and leave the rest.
Im working on building my underwater town (built a glass roof in the middle of the sea, now getting rid of the water). Ill leave most stuff in my wooden house but live in the town only bringing my gold and diamonds.
