In the beginning of a seed, sometimes, you will see a dash/hyphen. Are you supposed to type that in front of the numbers as it appears?

Yesterday I was on my way to class, when a black cat fell from the sky. I didn't really know what that nonsense was about so I asked him if I could step around him because he was bad luck, but he simply meowed and then disappeared. I was a bit worried that maybe he'd teleported to Afghanistan or somewhere equally dangerous, but a wizard came and assured me that it was alright. I threw my Zune at him because I was 78% sure he was lying. The wizard roared at me and sentenced my mother to thirty five years of chain smoking. I was sad.
It's a minus sign, used to denote negative numbers. Yes, you are supposed to type the number exactly as it appears, positive or negative, so that would of course include the minus sign.
Ok I get you type whatever seed ya want. But can someone tell, point out a link that tells what is going on with the generator? Is the sixth slot mountains? Eleventh villages? How does this work?

It is not quite that simple....
Basically any alphanumeric number will be converted to a # between 1-19 digits long. That is what most refer to the seed #. Otherwise it would be just a seed. It is that number that will be put through an algorithm to generate a world.
Each digit really does not have that kind of meaning that you are trying to think it does. If you know algebra, or advanced mathmatics beyond that you might be able to figure something like that out. To be able to do so would take quite a long time unless of course you actually have seen the equation or algorithm it goes through.
It is more random than you would think. As far as a patern, there is no such luck, at least from my observation. Otherwise I would have figured that out like Final Fantasy I, which is a basic nintendo product that has been hacked and well pretty easy to read. Take a shot at trying to figure any sort of pattern, but to me for as many seeds I have generated, there isn't one except the fact that 1-19 digits (20?) has to be a number only before it goes through the algorithm. Hence anything else being converted to such.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

well, the numbers are uncontrollable. I'm guessing that It goes like, "world number 982474" or , "world number 211968" I'm not sure if that how it exactly is, but what I d know is that each seed is it's own seed. It works for minecraft on all Xbox consoles and anyone can get to that world.
