Hello, some of you may or may not remember my thread about The Necropolis. A world I am building themed as a fantasy-type undead land. I recently had to abandon my original idea and am working on a whole new world. However, I need some suggestions or ideas on how to conquer a new problem.
I am an amateur builder and am rather stumped on how to continue this project without having to scrap the whole thing which I'm unwilling to do through sheer stubbornness.
Here is the problem;
I recently built this tower here:
However, I need a clever way of reaching the top of the tower:
Via the inside of the tower:
Here is the catch; I don't want to use stairs (especially spiral stairs). I have used spiraling stairs in too many of my projects and am looking for a cleaver way to fluidly move from the bottom of the tower to the top.
Any suggestions? PC players keep in mind that I also don't mind suggestions for features that are not yet on the Xbox many of my projects are requiring me to wait to finish already so I can be patient.
I already have used a nether portal in another world to transfer to unreachable areas so I'd like to avoid that as well. I did this by making sure that the nether portals were far enough apart in the nether that the portal exit selected the new portal instead of the old one. I effectively connected a small nether portal in a basement to the nether which went down a massive winding demonic staircase to an alter that had another nether portal connected to a cave. (added clarification in case anyone reading this would like to know how I accomplished this).
On a side note if anyone is interested in seeing any other pics of this project or the nether portal transportation I mentioned above let me know I can certainly post more.
Minecart Elevator perhaps? If you use obsidian to surround it, you could make it blend in nicely. It's usually my go-to for spanning larger distances.
Yeah my only problem with the minecart elevator is I'd rather not use minecarts because the climbing in and out ruins the fluidity and can also be a right pain in the ass. Also, I'm looking for something that could at least be relatively disguised as mystical or ethereal in nature.
For a really tall structure, I use a simple either a simple water ladder or a ladder/water drop. It is compact, 1 or 2 squares, so it is easy to hide in a large structure and still fast enough. If you encase the water ladder in glass though, it always looks interesting when some one ascends it.
Adding to the previous comment, if it were a water elevator, and assuming that's creative, what you could do is alternate air and ice blocks in a 1 x X column.
After melting the ice, it's still a water elevator, but the water's suspended in mid-air.
(Just don't update the water!)
I found that none of these methods worked out very well but I appreciate everyones suggestions! This is what I inevitably did. Another stair case but I think it actually gives the tower a more cathedral type look.
