Before I rip off the shrink-wrap, I want to know if the updates until now are on the disc? As in, if I want to remove them and go back to the launch edition of the game, is it possible to do so with the disc version?
I think the launch edition is TU10. It was supposed to be TU11, but from what I've been reading here, that didn't happen.
You can always clear your cache and delete any update files in your Minecraft folder, then play offline. But why would you want to? TU11 is in pretty good shape.

Hah, it's because I want to recreate Achievement City, but using the seed with all the updates on it spawns a different map.
That's why I want to know if I can remove all the updates and make it like the launch edition for the Marketplace version, or if the updates are hard-coded onto the disc.
No you cannot unless you purchased that version off of the marketplace. At least you used to, they may have taken that ability away. Your best bet is to find a seed from the current version that matches it as best you can.
Edit: Reread it and I should be a bit clearer. You cannot remove updates from the disc. It is hard coded to TU10. You will be able to reset yourself to TU10 in the future though.
